It's not a big deal to me.
First, when I can listen to music off my laptop (basically when I'm home) I do that. Only if I'm taking the bus, metro or at school, I would listen to music with my headphones. Second, I don't listen to music too loud. The volume is always 50% or lower. Third, I have good headphones that block sound around me so I don't have to turn the volume up. It's a good tip!

FINALLY.. There's a thread like this!!
![]() I've started listening to the radio and to music, in general, since the young age of 12 (bought my first SONY Walkman back then..) and ALMOST everyday, I swear to God, I'm constantly plugged in to my earphones, listening to my Walkman, Discman, MD player, (and now) MP3/4 player.. I have SERIOUSLY lost count of the earphones that I've used over these past 12 years.. (I'm 24 now btw..) No kidding, I still wonder if I'll lose my hearing soon at the rate I'm going..

But yeah, like you I have them in my ears non-stop xD. But I guess if we stick to what people told us here, that we just shouldn't listen to music very loud, I think we'll be fine. Quote:
And I surely listen to music more than 30 min a day xD |

I'm not really afraid. As long as you don't turn the volume too hard (on your iPod especially) I think it's okay.
A friend of mine once told me that she read somewhere that if you listen to music for more than 30 min a day you will live longer. XD I dunno if it's true.

^ haha, my earphones record was just broken two days ago, my sennheisers died after 8 months xD it was weird, left side died first and an hour later the right side did, usually it takes some weeks for the other side to break xD(and at the same time i got a new record for shortest use: i used the ipod earphones which i never used before for less than one day, only for the time it took to buy new earphones xD)

^O_o that's weird for ipod earphones to happen! I had iPod earphones before myself, and it took about 6 months for them to break. But I'm really surprised with the ones I have now, I'm literally using them non-stop (and even accidentally pulling them) and it's been a year and they work perfectly.
And my brother also has Sennheisers (but they are headphones) and it has one side a bit broken since the wire is pulled out, bit we fixed it so it's fine, lol. But they are awesome! I especially love to listen to Sparkle with them, haha. |

^ the ipod ones didnt break, but I had to wait one day to buy new earphones, so i used the ipod ones on that day and bought better ones as fast as possible(the ipod ones are simply TOO HORRID in quality)

Naah, the ipod ones have really good quality, at least IMO. It's just probably because you didn't get used to it. I thought the same thing after switching from sony earphones to ipod's, I was like I won't listen to this crap, but since I had no chocie I did and now I think they are 100 times better than sony's. But that's just me of course ![]() Quote:

I was in a car the other day with my boyfriend. His Mum's boyfriend - everyone hates him u-u; - had some really bad music on...so we were listening to our iPod's and I put it up dead loud *_*;;
Then afterwards I remembered this thread and felt bad xD I hope it won't damage my ears >o<; It was a twenty minute drive... |

In Psychology we learned that the longer you hear noise the more it hurts your ears. People who live near highways (like I do) or on busy streets in cities such as people who live in an apartment normally have worse hearing. The sound of cars going by isn't very loud, but since it is constant, your ears are constantly working until the point where they start giving up.
However, if you listen to something SO loud that your eardrum bursts, that's when you're in trouble because scar tissue will develop to replace it which makes hearing harder and harder. They've actually found that constant noise might lead to earlier death :p. Buttt... I imagine that's still in testing or we'd know more about it. But it's nothing I would spend my life worrying about. I love music too and I'm not going to stop listening to it just because it's damaging my hearing (unless it's to the point where I might go deaf). |

I have very poor hearing; actually it isn't a "hearing problem" it's something in my brain, more like a comprehension problem. So because of that I'm afraid of causing damage so when I listen to music on my iPod it's low and when I go see friends' bands I wear ear plugs sometimes (you can still hear).

ok youre a littttle too obsessed with music. I listen to music every day. But I could live without it.
1. Try and listen to more music on your laptop than on your iphone. It's better to hear music from a distance than when its shoved down your ear. 2. Limit how much you listen to. 3. Seek counseling help if you reeeaallly can't listen to music for 24 hours. 4. What I like to do. turn your music down as low as possible but still enjoyable. and give your ears breathers. sit in silence for a few hours. sounds like madness. I know. but years from now when you're not deaf. You'll be glad. I only ever get earaches cause of the earphones. unless its skull candy. earphones are so uncomfortable in my ears. but the jelly ones are more pleasant. only time other than that I get an ear ache is when I wake up and sleep on my in a weird position or something.

I'm not really afraid of damage...Although I'm fairly sure that my hearing may have been damaged after I went to this one concert...but I was like 12..so I don't know.
I usually keep my ipod at a constant volume, highest around 50%. I dislike when things are so loud that they become distorted or something. Really bugs me...so I usually stay below that, because I buy cheapy headphones and they can't take too much lol It's fine with me, it's loud enough to where it drowns out everything else, and the music is all I hear. I can't really live without my music either...if people aren't with me, I ALWAYS have my ipod. No matter what.

Oh I never listen to music that loudly, when I listen to my Ipod at home, the volume bar.....you can't even see the blue because I don't even get it that loud...so maybe less than 5%?
It's because I don't really want to drown everything out...sometimes I have to listen to my phone or my parents...though I think my hearing in my left ear is worse than my right because I tend to listen with one earphone in

^ well, that MIGHT seem that way to you because music usually is slightly louder on the right speaker, so when you listen to it with both ears it seems like the hearing on your left ear is worse
