Two very random Ayu questions~
Well, I have two, for the moment, and I figured since they're so.... well, you might not think they're all that important. Well anyhow, I figured I might as well just post 'em both in one thread.
![]() Question Un! Is Enrique's real name really Enrique? If so.... I am amazed. Is he really Japanese then? Question Deux! Why doesn't Ayu refer much to her real debut album and single, NOTHING FROM NOTHING? It's almost as though she denies it was her. I had my doubts for a while that it was really her, judging by how few sites offer it up as a download of Ayu, but uh... What's the status on this? Why doesn't she bring it up, or accredit herself to it, really? I've been wondering a while now. Alright, done with the little questions for now! Thanks for any answers~

I try to answer this (sorry for my english).
1) Yes, his real name is Enrique. He was born in Colombia and when he was 3 years old he went to Japan. You can read more about him in Wikipedia or in his Official Website 2)Well, I think it's a "Discography Thing". When she signed under Avex label she "started" her carrer. There is an example that can answer this question: Christina Aguilera's album JUST BE FREE (It's only an example, sorry about this). I think Ayumi don't think about Nothing from Nothing like her real debut because don't reflect her musical talent and all her feeling (A Song for XX is a personal album). <3 Hope this help you ^__^

1) As far as I know, yes, his name really is Enrique, but I don't think he's ever revealed his full name, in the 25 years since his debut with Barbee Boys. He was born in Columbia and moved to Japan at age three, but I don't know if he's full-blooded Columbian or if he's half Japanese or what. I would imagine he's half-Japanese, it looks like he is.
2) I have no idea, I think it's a cultural Japanese thing.... when you change record labels, for example, it's a "re-debut" rather than a "xth" album, and your name or its spelling is changed. It's almost like, when you're with one record label, you have to kinda pretend any other label affiliations didn't happen. I couldn't tell you for sure, but in Japan it definitely appears that you're a completely different act if you change labels, which is obviously not the case in the west. EDIT: Darn you for beating me to it!

Waaah, thank you leo and Deli~~
I appreciate both you guys' answers~ 1.) Wow, I never knew that about him. O_O And yeah, he does look kinda mixed, because I would have never guessed he's actually in fact Columbian. =O But that's pretty cool. (I first really was wondering about him when I heard Ayu saying his name in CDL0708 "Enriqueee". I was like, wth?)2.) And wow.... I can kinda understand that. =T It makes me think of the whole Ami Suzuki situation though.... But she's different, I guess, because her first recording company just kinda. Yeah. ![]() Well anyhow. Thank you both so much for the info! You have helped me out with two things that have been bugging me for quite a bit now~

2) She started to write her lyrics only for ASFXX, so NOTHING FOR NOTHING wasn't actually her album in that meaning, people didn't like that and probably old label owns that songs, and avex doesn't want to increase popularity of that label reminding people that that was actually her debut. So here you are 4 reasons not to mention it as her debut.

Wow, I didn't know that he was from Colombia! Cool. I really thought that "Enrique" was just his stage name. Yeah, he looks more like half-Japanese... Thanks for the information!

My thoughts exactly! Kinda like Princess and PECO. I was really confused, because he really looks like he could be Japanese.

^He's probably mixed, half Colombian half Japanese. I always thought he didn't look full Japanese myself. Thanks for the info on Enrique.
