its all about singles & albums now eh?
Now in America, singles are rarely physical, usually digital (like iTunes). The "singles" dont usually have b-sides, just the song the single is called and occasionally some remixes (totally depends on the artist!), so it's like buying individual songs. (other countries do make physical singles for American releases though) So technically, when you buy a single, youre just buying a song xD to me, the term "single" doesnt mean alot to me compared to the Jpn singles. It just means a song that is meant to be promoted and most likely have a video @_@ and YES, to PROMOTE THE ALBUM! ![]() and quite a few artists release singles before, and then some more singles AFTER the album Last edited by mcluva420; 26th September 2009 at 07:42 AM. |

The japanese system is better. I don't want singles wich are already on an album except the single is awesome

The japanese system because I feel that the singles being released is like a little preview to the new album.

To all those saying that the US is bad for releasing singles after the album --> You still buy the Japanese album with all the singles on it anyway. It makes no difference whether they come before or after, you still bought the album with the singles you already bought.
Anyway, I like both so I can't really vote. Japanese = more music faster. You can pretty much bet that your favourite artist will have a new album out in a year or two. Also, I like how I get my money's worth with Japanese singles/albums. DVDs with all the videos on, booklets with lots of pictures and lyrics, the obi etc etc. But I feel the music becomes old quickly, because there's always something new coming out. But then again, we get a lot more from them, different single editions, different album editions, tour DVDs and everything. American = too slow. I have to wait years for even a new song to appear from a favourite artist, then like another year or two for the album to come out. Meanwhile, Koda Kumi just released her 60th single, her 10th album is coming and a new BEST just came out before. I just find it's very lazy; music video or two, one big photoshoot and using all the shots from that shoot for the entire album era etc. So yeah, both have their pros and cons. ![]() |

Japanese system of course, but they try too hard to cash-in just like the American system, with all their variations of the same CD...

Both are pretty bad. But I'll go for the Japanese system because atleast they release stuff in advance so you dont have to wait a year until an artist comes up with something new like in the American system.
But the Japanese system has oone big flaw: the artists sometimes release too many singles so their next album barely has any new tracks.
