I kinda hope she doesn't. I don't like having her associated with anime... People who don't know her well (foreigners new to J-Pop) - or any singer - tend to find out about the anime songs first, and they are rarely anywhere near the best in the discography; despite that, the anime song is what they will most strongly connect to the singer. Dearest was a rare, awesome exception.

I'm no fan of InuYasha but it would be good to have Ayu return to do any anime OP/ED *__*

I would have loved her in Earl & Fairy or Kobato though

I believe she won't do it anymore..in that periodo she was promoting so much herself with tons of CMs and collaborations.
now she gained an higher position se can allow herself to avoid this kind of things.

I unserstand what you say, but in my case, dearest was the first song i heared of ayu, and then i started to be interested in ayu and other jpop artist. So i can say that thanks to inuyasha and thanks to that ayu collaboration i love jpop-rock.

I was thinking abou tit some time ago... It would be really interesting... not that I'm a fan of IY... but sure it would be a good promotion... Even though I think nowadays is better if a song is used for a popular Dorama... This talking about promotion...

Who knows... I won't be upset if it happens ^^

No, I understand. It's good. All I was saying is that, sadly, many artists who do songs for anime (or video games) don't use their best works. And unless you continue to follow the artist, you'll always think of that average-at-best song when their names are brought up. :\ But like I said, Dearest didn't follow that pattern, lucky for Ayu. (No More Words, on the other hand....... :\)

I'm VERY happy the anime is back (^___^)

I knew Ayu thanks to IY and would be GREAT if Avex return to put any Ayu song as opening/ending for this fantastic show... c'mon Max, you can make it, even it's sponsored by Avex Trax

Me too! I discovered Ayumi with Inuyasha!

Btw..I don't think that they'll use a new song of Ayumi..because if I'm not wrong...there is only one seasons..so there is only 1 ending and 1 opening!

Well... Japan-wise, having a anime tie-in is not really anything special... usually low-tier singers have those...

^ Dramas don't seem to help her out much either

Ayu needs a fresh, new product to endorse... Inuyasha is old as dinosaurs.

^ Totally agree. If Ayumi is gonna have a tie-in, it better be something really special. Because she needs all the help she can get, considering her bad luck with tie-ins. :\

^ For western fans, an anime tie-in is better cuz it's the main way people know jpop singers... But over there in Japan is pointless... animesong artists aren't really respected by general public and most anime hit songs where hits before they were used on the anime. Believe it or not, on Japan most anime series are seen as "children stuff" (or worst, "otaku stuff", but not the "cool otaku thing" people use on western countries, but as mentally ill people stuff) the same way they are seen on the rest of the world

yup and neither was still alone. However it seems that With you was, as the song has an identical composition/arrangement as Hide-away, AAA's a-side.

I dunno, Anime tie-ins are usually pretty standard, but Inuyasha's huge, and back then it pulled in a lot of famous singers who didn't normally do anime OP/EDs, so I think we can say Inuyasha's an exception of sorts.

That being said, I think it'd be pretty cool if they went back and got some of the old singers (Namie, Ayu, and as they're already doing, DAI, etc.) to sing new themes for them, or just use already made songs by them. I didn't exactly discover Ayu through Inuyasha, but it was still one of the earliest instances I had of being exposed to her music, and it gives Dearest and no more words some sentimental value to them that other songs obviously won't have.

Also, as can be seen from this thread alone, LOTS of people's first song was Dearest because of Inuyasha, so I think it's safe to say that having an anime tie-in with something like Inuyasha could definitely help her fanbase, even if it is overseas. I don't think I'd object to more Ayu fans, haha...

Plus again, the whole sentimental value thing; I think it'd be great for newer fans to have a song they can associate with something they really love (like I did with Dearest/no more words during my Inuyasha phase), it makes it a bit more special than just a random single being released.

^ Correction, InuYasha WAS huge, for a while. Both Japanese and Westerners alike got pretty sick of it. It's no longer "in" at all, and I honestly don't think it'll make much of a comeback. (I dunno, maybe it will.... I just don't think so.)
And Andre said it perfectly. Anime singers in Japan are the equivalent to the Western world's one-hit-wonders. To people in the US and such, you see a singer who does anime themes and people think, "oh wow, how cool, they're an anime band!" In Japan it's like, "oh, she only does anime songs...? Okay..."

^ Yeah but, Inuyasha's always been an exception to that rule. They didn't just find random singers to do their OPs/EDs, they purposely got the really successful and popular ones. I reeeeeally doubt anyone in Japan heard BoA/Namie/Ayu/etc. on InuYasha and went "oh, they only do anime songs lawl what losers." And I wasn't even talking about Japan XD I meant overseas, it really can't be denied that Inuyasha brought in a lot of foreign fans.

Some animes (like Inuyasha and Rurouni Kenshin for example) use only top pop acts music, but this is not meant to promote the artists... usually the song were already famous (or, were by already famous people) and the music was meant to promote the series... and more than that... Inuyasha songs weren't all by Avex just because of a coincidence... They paid to Avex in order to do this...

^/^^ *nodnod* Honestly, I think with Inuyasha, the musicians helped the series, rather than what usually happens (the other way around).
