i read that arashi no shudukai-kun might be replaced with a new show. honestly, i wouldn't mind because it's been on since 2006, lol. but i hope they would make the new show just as funny as G or D no Arashi

Frankly, I don't get the disappointment. The songs are usual Arashi Songs, no surprises here. I actually find both of them sorta catchy.

My expectations are not that high musically when it comes to Arashi. There are a lot of songs I actually cannot stand in their discography. Arashi is one, if not the only group where I'm not in for the music. They were never that experimental and don't need to be. And I don't really think it's their choice anyway. They get a song to sing and then that's it.

That's true, but I don't think it can be denied that this past year their singles have been very safe sounding. Its obvious that the company just wants them releasing very mainstream but often times bland kind of songs these days in order to play it safe. Ironically though, the song that got the best reception last year was Clockwork Umbrella and that is a different sounding song for Arashi.

that's true , even Super Fresh got a really positive response when the My Girl single was released

it's probably 1 of the rare times that the B-sides actually sounded much better than the A-side itself

oh dear this's terrible . I don't know if it's just me but all 3 songs all sound the same/monotone to me X___X in that I'm not impressive with what they have to offer this year so far

lol I'm sorry Lisa but yeah I think this's the 1st time that I'm not feeling anything exciting coming from the guys at all which's really sad

which means that

1) I'm facing an early age crisis just like BREAKERZ's guitarist Aki who has corn rows now for his hairdo xD

2) they should stop doing the safe pop songs & return back to do what they does best ie. hip hop/rock

I don't even mind if they do something outta the ordinary like even maybe a jazz/bossa nova no. but no more boring/bland tunes please X___X

I frankly am shocked on how I'm feeling about this right now & scared that their future new album might sound in this manner too

^^mmhh...you're not. But maybe you're not counting me? I said on the last page that I find the new songs catchy. I find Troublemaker catchy, too. I like them all better than My Girl, which I personally thought was boring.

What do you mean play it safe? Do you think if they released Tokei Jikake no Umbrella as an a-side and My Girl as a b-side it wouldn't have been successful? They don't need to play it safe, people will buy it anyway. It's just the usual Arashi songs they are releasing. Most of their songs sound similar. They moved away from the early hip-hop roots Karen mentioned before, but they've been in that place for quite a while now. I think it started around the time when Wish was released. Sometimes they break out of the routine, like they did with Believe or truth , which I personally like best of their newer material. But then they release stuff like My Girl or even worse Beautiful Days which I cannot stand for some reason. Like I said earlier, I think it's the Jimusho that decides, they have no choice in that matter.

For me One Love is like this as well. I love How to fly, but I don't like One Love, I think it's boring.

In the end it all comes down to your personal taste. I like the new songs, they don't blow me away with thoughts like "OMG, awesome gotta listen to it on repeat" but their music never did that to me before. It's what you can expect from Arashi and what they give.

Sure I could have disliked it now but for old times sake & that I caught Hana Yori Dango Final the movie here personally , I guess I can close an eye or 2 here

I don't know how much music freedom the guys have but the last full on rock song that they put out was Sakura Sake which I still love it til now & that goes for the PV

& since then I haven't heard anything of such stuff but if you count Aozora Pedal in , I guess it's OK as it was written/composed by Suga Shikao who did such a great job

seeing that my fave music genre's rock , that's why I'm like really & begging them big time to return back to the good ol days when they 1st started

I don't know if that's ever possible for that to happen ;__;

Maybe because Arashi are soooo mainstream now, their management or Johnny or whoever decided that it doesn't matter for them to have good music.

And if they release stuff they release stuff that your granny also appreciates. Aren't most Arashi fans older women? They probably wouldn't buy too risky stuff.

I have been interested in the music business since I was a teen & I know where you're coming from with regards to what you said about marketing

I studied marketing last year a few trimesters back so yeah

& for KAT-TUN's case , don't be surprised if in due time I will be giving my harsh opinions towards them in future . I haven't heard the previews for Love yourself & THE D-MOTION (despite the weird/odd CM LOL) so I don't want to judge them right now as previews doesn't do justice to the full songs eventually

See? Arashi music is music the whole family can enjoy. The population is getting older anyway, so maybe they know exactly what they are doing by releasing music like this. They targeting the older generation. haha.

Hey, it's ok, if you give harsh opinions. I don't love everything KAT-TUN release. They have songs I skip on their albums - there are always singles/performances that you like more or less, even for your favourite artists. Would be weird if you loved everything about an artist, especially Johnny's. They do so much stuff from TV to movies to stage plays to music. It cannot all be grand. That said the closest thing to perfection for me is Ayu, but that doesn't mean she is perfect. Maybe I like her because I'm her main target audience. It's probably really all down to marketing and we don't realise it.

while i personally don't like the current Arashi sound, well, it's something i can't control. LOL. i think JE is capitalizing on their rising success, making music that will appeal to the masses, & expanding their influence. Arashi will gain new fans & lose old. it's just how it is, i think.

it's just not with Arashi too. i mean, i know i'm like the biggest KAT-TUN stan here, but i'm not oblivious to the fact they can change too (i will be so sad though...LOL).

& Karen, don't feel bad for just voicing an opinion. i mean...look, i haven't been so easy on Arashi either. i haven't been for a while, LMFAO. though i love "Tokei Jikake no Umbrella".

I find the new songs catchy too, but they don't blow me away or anything. When it comes to the songs from last year, honestly, Ashita no Kioku, Everything, Season, and My Girl are quite interchangeable; which is really rare for Arashi I feel and those songs were released right in a row too. So instead of releasing something like say, Kitto Daijoubou which could either sell really big or flop really hard (by Johnny's standards) they go with songs that are very middle of the road - not likely to turn people off, but not likely to get anyone really super excited about either. The thing is, as you said, right now they are likely to sell either way so I don't get why the jimusho is making them play it safe and saving the more interesting stuff for the b-sides.

i don't mind everyone's opinions, really! i have a very crazy musical taste, so i seem to just enjoy songs and i'm never really that critical. it just saddens me whenever someone dosen't love an arashi song, you know? i gotta stop being so sensitive, LOL.
