I can't believe this thread got resurrected.
![]() well, in my religions class this last semester we were told to bring in a religious song to display to the class. I took the M PV and presented it as a religious allegory. (For obvious reasons) Talking about the meaning and the setting of the church and what Christianity is in Japan. Everyone, including the prof, was REALLY interested so that made me excited. I didn't convert anybody but people were really impressed with the song/video. A girl afterwards even told me she thought it was really cool and that Ayu was hot. ![]() |

I've used Ayu's Moments for an English project a few weeks ago. We were supposed to write a two page essay explaining how song lyrics can be used as poetry and I thought using one of Ayumi's songs would be perfect! Her song lyrics are very beautiful and poetic.

Hmmm... no, never, but again I don't study anything related to Japan/japanese culture, so it would be kind of hard for it to happen. It'd be cool though.

Yeah...twice...
First I did a speech about her. So the teacher has heard of her. But after my speech competition my school banned it cause its not christian. ![]() Second I did a "how to spot bootlegs" speech. We had to bring in samples so I brought most of my ayu stuff. The students kept nagging about how its not christian. ![]()

Thought I could in add in my experience since I've finally found this thread.
![]() --- Ayu became a part of my life during my senior year in high school so there wasn't much opportunity to bring her to the classroom but I did introduce her to my sister and now we're both dedicated fans. I entered college soon and during my sophomore year (2nd Semester of S.Y. 2009-2010), yes, Ayu made it into my classroom but it was only when my teacher asked me about who my favorite singer was. I told her it was Ayumi Hamasaki but well..I'm the only person in my class who knows her so you could just imagine the curious looks on my classmates' faces. Anyway, I decided to just lie low and limit my answer. Another time was when my co-campus journalists were busy with presswork at our publication office at school. I just got back from my P.E. 3 class that afternoon and when I stepped into the office, I heard "glitter" playing from someone's laptop. I was so surprised that when I discovered who was listening to her, I couldn't help myself to smile a big cheshire smile. I never thought I would eventually meet a fellow fan of Ayu in college and I never thought it would be a guy either! He knows and listens to Ayu but he told me he was more into K-pop and I respect that of course. We're still friends to this day and we're both still in the publication but we don't usually share or talk about some things about Ayu most of the time but I'm still glad I've finally met a fellow Ayu fan. Another unexpected meeting was with another member of the school publication who happened to be another K-pop enthusiast. This time though, it was a girl. I knew (and listened to) some of the artists she was into so I thought about asking if she listens to Japanese music and by any chance if she knew Ayu. I wasn't expecting it but she said yes. Now I know two people in real life who know Ayu. I guess it's a pretty nice chance encounter. ![]()

Well, this doesn't really count but it was in a school where I discovered Ayu. From an Asian magazine a classmate had that I was flipping through. I saw an ad for Memorial Address and a friend of mine was like, "Oh, I have that CD." And I was like "really?" and she let borrow it. And the rest is history.

Well the only time Ayu has come to my classroom was when we had to journal about who we admired or who was our hero. And of course I wrote about Ayu. ^^
Also, all my friends at least know who Ayu is since I constantly talk about her. I managed to get one of my friends to like some of her songs though. I wish I could meet an actual fan in real life. |

Yuppppp!
I got into my french final high school exam and we had three topics to choose from... going down the list i was like ... ******* ******* Then the third one was write about an artist that is outstanding and write how they are special. Thats when i was like OMFG YAY!!!!!! And i wrote an entire essay on Ayumi and how she's amazing and all the single's she's sold and how she's the empress ![]() I usually fail french essays (its my fourth language) but i managed to get an 80 on this which i am so happy! cuz i proabbly lost all my marks on spelling and grammar (no dictionaries or verb books allowed) but yup!

Yep, once. The Kouhaku from last year...the Rule perf.
![]() Everyone was making snide comments the whole time!! D: This one kid that's so annoying kept saying, "Oh what's up with the freakish dancers?" (What I wanted to say: You're just jealous because they're attractive and you're not >_>) "Oh why is her hair like that? Weirdo..." (What I wanted to say: Why does your hair look like you haven't taken a shower since last Christmas? Weirdo!) And then at the end, "That was good...not." (What I wanted to do: *smack*) It wasn't a hit. D: D: D: It didn't help that Ayu was saying the "Ruuuuule" part loudest, which is what everyone was making fun of ![]() ![]() Last edited by gallowsCalibrator; 13th July 2010 at 02:45 AM. |
