Awesome!! I can't wait for this. I need to keep up with his stuff. >_<

But anyways, I hope she releases her next single on September 1st. It seems kind of promising that she could get #1 providing she promotes.(Which we know she will )

"また、自身が持つソロ歴代No.1記録の「連続初登場首位獲得記録」を「23作連続」(2位:松 田聖子 12作連続)に更新"

This is quoted from the article link posted by ayumisrael. From my reading of Japanese, it says that Ayu has the record as a solo artist for first place in terms of having the highest number of consecutive singles which is 23 gaining the number one spot. Matsuda Seiko is in second place with 12 singles.

I agree it's common knowledge on this forum that Matsuda Seiko should be at first place for that record with 24 singles as of now so I am a little confused with this ORICON update. Does it mean only the first day sales and not the weekly? But in that case, it's contradicting as well because I remember HEAVEN only taking the number three spot on its first day of release. Hopefully a native Japanese speaker may be able to provide a more definite explanation?

Huh? That's just absolute confusion there...

Are these weekly sales? And are they for music or in general (w/movies)?

We should know that Seiko Matsuda holds the record among soloists in general and female artists overall; B'z (which is the best-seller in the history of Japanese music) has 42 singles #1 consecutively, which is the record outright, male or female, soloist or group; in this case, this is a male duo, I think...

And they're about to try for their 43rd consecutive with "MY LONELY TOWN" single releasing out later this October... Ayu might not want to try to attempt to catch up B'z - she's already declining, but at least among soloists and female artists, that would be a very big achievement...

This is a list of music DVDs but DVDs get ranked in music or in general according to their sales (there aren't special sales for music or general, just positions). General covers all the types of DVDs.

Good sales! Thank you =D

ayu sold in 2010 by far 629,596 copies!!

Bigtop, B'z's MY LONELY TOWN was released last year. XD

Oops, I misread... So right now, they have 43 consecutive #1 singles - that's a lot!

the CDL sales is kinda low....usually her CDL sales a little bigger than that for the first week...
but i hope the CDL has a longevity on the chart and still can get an average number for ayu DVD concert...around 65k-70k

That's why I stated in my post what is common knowledge on this forum, yet the update on ORICON seems to be contradicting.

I am wondering if ORICON may have changed any policies since the 80's on counting the rankings for singles, therefore a change in Matsuda's record. Hopefully someone may be able to explain this soon...
