Hi!
I was reading the translation of the lyrics for Memorial Address, and
I wanted to know if anyone knew who they were written for,
from what i read its about someone that Ayumi loved passing away.

Uhm i don't think it's for her father..
she wrote Teddy Bear for her father..
but MA is for someone else, who was really close to her

^^No, pretty sure it's her father.
It's the Memorial address booklet, the numbers '0630' are written on the mirror lipstick. It's speculated that this is the date of his death.

(Off topic, but I was using that as my ATM pin number for years before this mini-album came out. I saw the booklet and freaked out...lol)

No, you're wrong. teddy bear was for her mother.

This question has been asked a lot of times already. Just use the 'search' option.

Anyway, some say it's for her mother, others think it's for her father and some people even think it's for her grandmother. She never clarified it.

^ I always figured that teddy bear was about her mother since the song mentions that the subject was hardly there for her, and her mother worked a lot. Considering that Ayu hardly remembers her father, and the father's departure seemed more indifferent than anything, I figured that Memorial address was about her father since the song requests for communication and affection even if the affection is false.

When he left ayu and her mom he probably left for good which means there was no connection or any sort of communication between them...

How could ayu know about his death? Maybe 06/30 was the date he left them (and on that day he died for her)?

she received a call telling her dad was dead? for such a famous person wouldnt be hard to find out who her real father was... maybe she knew about him but didnt want to actually "know" him...

and if that was the date when he left her and her mother, why would she bring that up all suddenly with memorial address the album? wouldn't have she done it long before? I think its pretty obvious the album is somehow dedicated to the actual death of her father.

Please keep in mind when reading this that it's just a theory of mine; I don't state that it's fact or anything but this is my theory, and this is how I've thought about it for a while now.

I genuinely believe that teddy bear is for her father; the way she described that night in one of her interviews years and years ago just fits the theme of teddy bear so much for me that I've come to associate the two as the same night.

As for Memorial Address; I really do believe the entire album is based on her father. I believe he came back into her life for a short amount of time, maybe out of regret of some kind, because he knew he was going to pass away soon.

ANGEL'S SONG talks about being lonely, and then someone coming into your life suddenly. It sounds more like a romantic song but it's the same sort of feeling.

Greatful Days is a summer song linked a bit with July 1st and July 1st is also rumoured to have something to do with her father. But then Greatful Days is about enjoying the summer time to the full.

Because of You she talks about the first meeting, and that maybe she knew something was wrong, and that their meeting and their relationship was somewhat temporary, and her fear of not being able to go back to the strong person she was before she met him. Not knowing her dad sort of shaped her, now that she's met him, she fears she can't go back to the time when she didn't know who he was and was strong that way.

In an interview Ayu states that she was discussing this with a friend, about not being able to go back to a time you didn't know someone. But I mean...I think that often when you discuss things with friends, you discuss their experiences also, so maybe she only mentioned her friend's side of thing, and not that the original conversation was about feelings of her own that she brought up to her friend.

Ourselves is a powerful song about the different things that different people know, and that no one person really knows everything about a person because there's always going to be a side you don't show to them.

HANABI~episode II~ She states for this song she went back to the feeling of the first HANABI; the sense of loss and hopelessness of having lost a precious person but not being able to forget them.

No way to say I believe is one of the most honest songs. She talks about that if he had not come back into her life, she wouldn't feel so helpless, like this strength she once had had disappeared or something. Of course she felt like she couldn't really convey these feelings to the world because maybe this was something she didn't want to have to tell everyone flat out.

To me, the embarrassing pain would be like...being able to admit that she really loved their time together, even after the show she made of not wanting or caring of who he was. Because in truth, maybe everyone wants to know where they've come from.

forgiveness talks about that also; should she forgive him for leaving? Forgive him for coming back so suddenly? Forgive herself for letting herself get swept in?

Memorial Address is just packed with all these feelings I believe.

I think she had that sad dream for a reason; dreams are an extension of our deepest thoughts and feelings. The fear of losing a person that had become so dear to her was overwhelming.

Maybe their meetings were too casual for her liking. Maybe there were still plenty of questions she wanted to ask him; the biggest one of all, had he ever loved her in the time they were apart?

We can really only speculate, but I really believe that Memorial address and teddy bear are for her father. Not only does she burst into tears whenever she sings either of them, but the lyrics also point to her father.

In teddy bear, I believe she is singing about the night her father left. She is saying that he left, and her present was a teddy bear in place of her father.

In Memorial address, I believe that she is singing about the night she woke up to a phone call telling her that her father is dead.

These songs always make me cry when I hear them

teddy bear -> I think mother cause she seems to talk about someone who couldn't be always next to her, we know her mother was working and she was mainly brought up by her grandma..

memorial addres-> her father for sure. She is talking about someone that passed away, and whom didn't know anything more till the moment she knew he was dead. That why she say: why you left it this way, leaving memories till the very end? Like... why did you dissapear till now that I can't talk to you anymore... she is asking: please tell me you loved me even if it's a lie, cause that's what you would feel if your father leaves your family and never bothers about knowing how you are or about you, like.. it's a father, he never really wondered how she would be? ...

I wouldn't doubt it, you know how whenever a celebrity has an estranged relative once its made common knowledge everyone and their mother claims to be said relative.

Idk it could be about an old friend whom she lost contact with for a long time and then was phoned about their death.

But it could be about anyone, maybe its about her half brother or her secret baby's death. Who knows. Maybe someone should tweet and ask her so we'd finally know.

Edit: Oh and whoever said July 1st is about her dad. In an interview she said the song is about how her and some of her friends used to visit the same place every year on that date.
