Unless Break it! / Get Myself back suddenly pulls out a miracle and does as well as 60s 70s 80s, she won't be able to beat Yamashita though. He's pretty much guaranteed the no. 1. Namie vs. Yusuke is exciting though ... Yusuke's sales have been dropping and his latest single, Lion, sold les than Wild/Dr., but that's also been over a year ago.

It's annoying that Namie's sales aren't as constant as Ayu's. You can't predict how much she'll sell XD

^Aren't Ayu's releases are usually strategically placed? If her release had been this week, there's no way she'd have gotten the #1 position. Not really much of an achievement imo. Most likely her next single will be released when there's not much competition so she's guaranteed the #1 spot. That's what a lot of Ayu-fans are hoping for at least. It just feels like an empty win if its done that way. MOON/blossom was a mediocre single that I've listened to once really good before scrapping it altogether. The sales I felt, were just. Then there's the complaint about no promotion. Hasn't this release been talked about for months now? Maybe a live performance would have hampered sales with a bad performance, maybe not. That miracle needs to happen for Namie, lol. I'm positive she can sell more than Ayu did if not, smells like a conspiracy.

On a side note--I'm kinda tired of Johnny's groups by now. I haven't found one I like or that's worth the hype.

Yup. I agree, but I'm sure avex cares more about their precious queen getting her streak than the artist who is currently more popular getting another random no. 1 : /

Also, about the boy bands, that's just the way it is! Best to ignore it! Take Lady Gaga, she's so awesome and people love her and if you say she's just another pop artist you get mauled and you're supposed to adore her, but honestly, I think it's just a hype and I don't like her music. Other people do like her though so I just ignore it and that works fine : P

Oh we know how those stans can be. lol. Yeah, Lady Gaga is so not awesome. She is just another pop artist with a shock factor and dance beats with even more shocking lyrics. I've heard music like hers before in the dance scene. Oh--and she's bisexual, just like Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Xtina, Megan Fox, Tila Tequila. What female celeb isn't these days? Of course, this is my opinion.

Ayu's not the queen, more like empress of jpop. Namie was labeled queen... right? My memory fails me. :/ Still, I love Ayu and will always be a fan at heart, but I'm not so blind to see that her recent works have been average. I will scream if she does another rock ballad on her next single. I remember her being so diverse and awesome. It just seems like she's stuck in a rut where her music is now. Idk, maybe I should blame the composers.

Avex could have delayed Namie's release as well to promise the #1 position. JK. Maybe her performance on Music Station and HEY! HEY! HEY! will help boost her sales. Better late than never to perform on tv again.

I just took a look back and Arashi is almost at 700k with 692,501 in sales. Albums are in the 550k's. What is going on with sales? Maybe Kana will be the first to surpass or touch 600k. Hope not.

Lol, I don't really see why people wouldn't want someone to have more success than the current mediocre sales.

Honestly, even if it's something extremely lame like a boyband or, I can't believe I'm saying this, AKB48, that gets the highest seller, if that means sales of in the 700k or in the million I don't mind. I NEED MY MILLION SELLER.

I listened to her album and I don't think it deserves #1 this year. It's probably not likely she'll be #1 this year, as there's bound to be someone that releases later in the year and pawns them all.

Interesting numbers. You can really see that Yamashita is going through the same cycle every boyband member that goes solo does. Every single sells a bit less than the previous one XD

The number for HEAVEN seems a bit low ... but I guess we shouldn't have been expecting too much. It's not like she had some huge promotion going on.

well physical CD sales in Japan are getting from bad to worst as each year goes by & Japan hasn't really gotten out of the recession rut for the past 20 years or so

so it's kinda expected sales for every artiste will be affected

anyway I already said before in the NEWS thread but Namie if not maybe Yusuke should be the artiste that's getting #1 this week

One in a million is way too Americanised for me to handle
