Have Ayu's PVs took a large decline? - Page 2

I don't get why people always complain about Ayu's large decline in her videos or songs and so on. I'm really tired of it. Because their will be always videos and songs someone will don't like for sure, it's normal that not everybody has the same taste. Would be boring if everyone would like the same things. BUT WHY MUST PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE SOMETHING ALWAYS SAY THAT'S ONLY DUE TO AYU MAKING THOSE DAYS ONLY BAD MUSIC OR VIDEOS OR WHATEVER!!!!!!!!

No, I am sorry but I totally disagree with this ! On the contrary, I think Ayu's current PVs are mostly awesome (DLB, SLT, Lady Dynamite, MOON, Microphone, ...) !
But it's true some of her recent works are boring, in terms of PVs, especially those of the NEXT LEVEL era... The only one to be really really great in NL is Sparkle IMO

Yes, she gets us used to great PVs like the ones you quote, but I definitly think she still is awesome concerning her music videos !

I'm an oldbie fan, and I'm VERY prone to nostalgia... but basically ditto kendelle's entire post. The crap-to-awesome ratio is just the same as ever.

But I guess Princess K and Deli are right...The ratio is still the same....

but that doesn't mean, imo, that the crappy ones aren't crappier, and the awesome ones aren't as awesome lol

Because I don't think her bad ones were as bad as now, and I don't think her awesome PVs are as awesome as the old ones...

But I think that goes into the music too...and I don't want to go there.

This is my opinion, and well, meh. I don't care anymore. In any case, I think people tend to forget just how epic Ayu really was...but whatever.

Seriously, some people need to grow up and realise everyone has an opinion. If you knew me, you'd know I'm a massive of Ayu and love her more than any other artist out there. However I'm only constructivey critisizing an area which I believe is lacking, I havn't said she is making the WORST PVs ever, nor have I attempted to create drama by making this thread.

It really upsets me that if anyone ever tries to point out an aspect of Ayu which is even the slighest bit of a critisicm, everyone jumps down your throat like you've just committed treason or something.

I agree, if you put it that way.

But also, looking at what most J-pop artists are doing, ayu still pretty damn good :/ J-pop is pretty crap nowadays, but ayu still doing okay.

well, i'm gonna say that every artists have their epic-period and then the non-epic-period..
like Ayu too..
she won't always make good PVs.. she has good and bad PVs too at times...

Not at all. PVs like Don't look back, Sexy little things, Microphone (and for me, even Sparkle) pretty much contradict any kind of a decline since some of them are much better than a lot of older PVs of ayu.

I'm not comparing her to other artists. I'm comparing her to herself, her consitency has definitely fallen. Her PVs are of a much lower quality these days. Which of course is understandable as she has been around for well over 10 years now.

I think that you should make it sound more like an opinion rather than a facual statement because for some people some of the PVs now blow some older PVs from the water.

It's not a fact that they are of a lower quality today, a lot are different from what she used to.
But for example, I would prefer a meaningful PV without much going inside of it like MOON more than Daybreak which is very meaningful and is yet kind of boring. (Song-wise also).

Productions like Sexy little things, Microphone and Don't look back are few of her best produced PVs ever (and I would there to say that even in jpop in general, imo).

The woman took a week to shoot a new PV in LA (where Lady Gaga had Telephone PV right?) So it might be a really good one.

Me neither actually. I was trying to emphasize that she is doing pretty good in J-pop standards nowadays. I'm not directly comparing her to any specific artist.

Sure ayu's still doing well compared to other peoples...but considering I don't really care about other peoples except when it comes to sales, as far as comparisons go...

I dont really care...There is a lot of crap you could compare Ayu to, to make even her worst PV look amazing lol

After GUILTY I kinda lost hope for her PV's, because I didn't particularly like Mirrorcle World, GREEN and Days. Then Rule and especially Sparkle were good again, but Sunrise / Sunset were obviously disasters. I personally hated You were..., but then BALLAD is was quite nice.

But Ayu never really won me over again (PV-wise) until Don't Look Back. That PV is just incredible, she's gorgeous in it and the editing is well done, it's a top notch PV.

So it's basically on and off for me, but I know she can still make amazing PV's, so I've got high hopes for Crossroad (full) and L!

On a side note, I found MOON very boring. I think that's her only PV I only watched once. Even Sunrise and Sunset I watched a couple of times

Yeah I totally agree with you about Don't look back, it was her best PV in a LONG time, and it did win back a lot of faith for me in regards to her PVs.

But funnily enough, I feel everyone is doing crappy/meh stuff... like seriously, EVERYONE. Or they just repeat what once gave them glory.

I feel that these days is pretty easy to get all excited about simple things from ayu lol In my case, I'm like that. And I acknowledge that obviously she had some great stuff in the past, like you said before. So yeah, some of us are gonna feel happy enough with what she does, even if its really simple, and others are going to get all depressed/upset about it.

no, they haven't. the majority of her PV's are still high quality.

my different thoughts on the PV's you mentioned

:

Microphone - unique, creative, exciting. it has that "wow" factor to me. i've watched it so many times.
Sunrise and Sunset - pretty boring.
MOON - beautiful and creative. it really made me want to cry. one of my favorite PV's.
Lady Dynamite - we get to see the fun ayu who loves to have a blast and not take herself seriously all the time. i love it!
