What do you think about Ayu's album titles?

Just like the title says ;d

A song for xx
I like the title, cause it's mysterious. It kicks with "it's very personal", and the lyrics are like that.

LOVEppears
It's to combinated, but i like that it's original. It can reminds of "Oh, a lots of ballads, someone's in love!" but in fact the album is not full of ballads.

Duty
I like the title, it says for me "Music is my life, music is my duty" And it's my 2nd favorite album.

I am...
I like the meaning of title, you're expecting diffrent faces of Ayu. And i feel this way when I'm listening to this album.

RAINBOW
I like the title, but i think it does not match album so well.. I feel very "cold" while listening to RAINBOW. It does not reminds me of... colors.

Memorial Address
I like it, In same way as A song for xx, it kicks with "personal feelings"

MY STORY
Don't know really if I like it, cause this sentence reminds me of... many ballads, and MS is full of 'em. But at least it fits.

(miss)understood
My fav name, my fav album. It says "Some might say they don't understand me, my music is so various" And this album have everything.

Secret
Like least fav album name, oh, maybe 2nd, cause Love songs it's last lol.
So many artists have songs, album like that. And Secret reminds me of ballads and mystery, but the album it's not mysterious afterall xD

Guilty
Like the name, it says that album would be heavy feeling (and it is) In fact I'm not fan of this album, I like the way it matches it.

NEXT LEVEL

I'm thinking: Oh, experimental! And it's very experimental. Very far from my expectation, and i don't like this album, but the title works perfectly.

Rock'n'Roll Circus
Don't like the title personal, but i think it suits the album.

Love songs
Kill me please. ;d It's a disaster. I hope there will not be a lot of ballads-feeling. Please. Please make me LOVE it. ;D

A song for xx
An album dedicated to a loved one, but she doesn't make it obvious as to who it is dedicated to.

LOVEppears
The title confuses me..

Duty
Just as you stated, she wants her fans to know music is her duty, especially to her fans.

I am...
She shows her fans the many faces of her through her variety of music.

RAINBOW
Well, she uses a different range of songs, pop, rock, ballad. Maybe to relate to the variety in a Rainbow?

Memorial Address
Another dedication?

MY STORY
Events of her life, beginning to end.

(miss)understood
Maybe she wants to let people know she's aware of people misunderstanding her because of her previous music and perhaps lyrics.

Secret
She discreetly puts her secret in her songs?

Guilty
She's guilty about what she's done in the past or hasn't done.

NEXT LEVEL
The next step in her career, she uses new genres, rather than her typical pop, rock and ballad.

Rock'n'Roll Circus
Just as the title, an album filled with rock songs.

Love songs
Not sure what to expect, but an album filled with love for her fans?

I never really put much thought into Ayu's title's, hence my short descriptions.

^ welcome to AHS melina

A song for xxVery personal. And indeed, it's mysterious: a song for ... who? For me?! For someone else. I just love it.

LOVEppearsThe combination sounds weird. Mainly because it isn't even a real word. But I still pronounche it as love-appears, and by hearing that it sounds wonderful, lovely and creative.

Duty
One word, a big meaning. Well, a lot of titles in Ayu's earlier career (that means: until RAINBOW- MY STORY) sounds more personal to me, than her latest releases. I don't worship the title, but it's perfect for a personal and a deep album.

I am...
What pepper and melina said. I am... is for me the most personal, emotional en mysterious title in Ayu's career. It's perfect! It's awesome!

RAINBOW
Hmm.. not sure. I don't say this title is a lack of creativity, but I just don't feel it. And neither the album exept for some songs as HANABI, Free & Easy, Heartplace and Real me.

Memorial Address

MY STORY
Quote:
Wikipedia:
By the end of her Arena Tour 2003–2004, Hamasaki had grown dissatisfied with her position in Avex: she felt that the company was treating her as a product instead of a person.[52] Along with her dissatisfaction over her last two studio albums (which she thought had been rushed), this led her to begin work on My Story (December 2004) early. In contrast with her previous albums, My Story had no set theme, nor did Hamasaki attempt to write "something good" or even "something that would give people hope"; rather, she simply wrote freely and honestly.[52][fn 7] As a result, the album contained mostly autobiographical lyrics about her emotions and reminiscences of her career. She approached the composition of the music with the same freedom as the lyrics, with the album's notable rock overtones expressing her liking for rock music.[53] She was so pleased with the result that she declared My Story the first album she felt satisfied with
And that's exactly what the MY STORY title represents: the honest! I'm satisfied with the title: you are listening to Ayu's thoughts. I don't feel something special with the title. This title is more special for Ayu than anyone else.

(miss)understood
I love (miss)understood and you can see the title in two ways:
- (miss)understood: like something understandig... or not.
- (miss)understood: in Miss Understood (a young lady: and then the fun combination makes it as a missunderstood.. a young lady who misunderstands (or understands)!) O my god, sounds abracadabra, eh? Seriously a brain killer. But that's how I felt about the album title.

Secret Personal album title, but I don't feel it. 'though, it's still a very good album.

Guilty

Here you go.

NEXT LEVEL
Ayu is taking her career to a next level? Nah, in my opinion: to a lower level. Don't know what to say actually. I just feel empty by this title.

Rock'n'Roll Circus
Dear, I have no idea. Same as NEXT LEVEL. It's that circus... or the rock'n'roll but the combination sounds cheap. But the album is lovely!

Love songs Kuu did better with the title: ETERNITY & Love Songs. This is a real lack of creativity. But yeah. I want to have the album first, and then we will see if the title matches with the tracks.

Sorry for my english. I was kind of in a hurry.

A song for xx:
It makes the entire album feel like one song, like somehow all the songs come together to form one long thought dedicated to one person.

LOVEppears:
I don't even know how to go about pronouncing this. "Love-ppears?" "Love-appears?" I don't know. I don't get it. xD

Duty:
I'm sorry in advance. Hahaha. Dooty.

I am...:
It's very strong. As though each song is a part, a small insight, of who she is. I like it.

RAINBOW:
This album gives me a feeling of inspiration. WE WISH, Real me, and Free & Easy especially seem to sound upbeat and positive, like a rainbow.

Memorial Address:
For some reason, I -nothing- this title. To me, it feels like something of an afterthought. It could be a personal dedication of some sort, but I don't feel as though the songs lend themselves well to that idea. It's just kind of a 'meh' title.

MY STORY:
This isn't my favorite but it makes a statement. It's as though you're sitting down with a book, entitled MY STORY, and as you crack it open and leaf through the pages, the story is actually the music and lyrics working together to express an actual story specifically about ayu.

(miss)understood:
I love this double entendre although it's been done before and since. It's a contradiction. Miss Understood, as though her name itself implies that she is well-understood, and misunderstood, which implies that she's not. It's very fun.

Secret:
I wouldn't like this one as much if it weren't for the interview she gave about it. She said that it (and the whole album) alluded to everyone having a secret inside of them, and that it's part of what makes us all human and connects us, or something to that effect. It's something she really thought through.

GUILTY:
It's very heavy, and emotional. It expresses a negative emotion toward oneself, which can be seen through some of the songs too. The whole album has very dark tones to it, really, so it fits.

NEXT LEVEL:
This also fits well because the music here was so much different than her previous work for the most part. It's as though she did go to the next level and achieve something different and in some ways better.

Rock'n'Roll Circus:
I heard this title and I thought 'Wow! Another (miss)understood-esque rock album!" and was sorely disappointed. The only song this title fits with is Microphone, which I heard before the album was out and it reinforced my original theory. Why she titled the album this way is beyond me because especially with S/S, Sexy little things, Lady Dynamite, and all the ballads on the album, it just makes no sense.

Love songs:
I'm reserving judgement. Everyone hates this title but it might have meaning. It already goes well with Virgin Road, Sweet Season, Last angel, etc., and those are all great songs. It might work, who knows. I don't think anyone can really judge until they hear the whole album and see the covers and PVs.

A Song For xx
Definitely feels very personal & mysterious with the "xx"... looks like it will be a very raw and emotional album.

LOVEppears
The portmanteau of "Love" & "Appears" definitely catches attention, and I love it. It's so original~

Duty
Heavy, strong, emotional. Which is what the album sounds like <3

I am...
Isn't there a sense of "identity loss" in this title? Like I am... what? Ayu never completed the sentence, so there's a feeling that this album will be "lost" as in, many songs about "who/what am I, what is my purpose here?"... like it a lot

RAINBOW
It appears to be a happy album due to the title, but in fact I think what "RAINBOW" means is a diverse musical style that is in the album songs, and it's definitely evident

Memorial address
A sorrowful title, almost sound like a farewell album. I must say the title doesn't reflect much but heck it's one good mini-album.

MY STORY
My favorite title & album from Ayu~ I love how it reflects an autobiography of her life with this album, and every song is emotional, raw, and straight to the point.

(miss)understood
I love this title so much. I used to think does she mean "Ms. Understood", or "misunderstood"? Because both interpretations carry such different meanings and feelings, that (miss)understood seems to be the center of it all, and proving so, as the album is her versatile and diverse yet <3

Secret
perhaps one of her more disappointing ones... the way she explained in CNN didn't help much either.

GUILTY
<3 Once again, carries a strong & emotional tone to the album, and I think it's reli one of her darkest albums

NEXT LEVEL
This is so-so to me, but I think it carries a futuristic tone/mood.. which kinda sets the album's tone since most of the songs are pretty electronica.

Rock'n'Roll Circus
she already explained this already, didn't she? i kinda like it though, it's like the songs inside are part of this circus of style and genre..

Love songs

A song for xx
amazing debut choice, it reminds of something nostalgic i can feel well in the lyrics and music so yesss

LOVEppears
it gives me a positive sensation, the sensetion of something's growing and the beat of the songs mirrors it

Duty
imo silly choice, there were deeper concepts to highlight

I am...
everysingle track shows a mirror with a different side of her so yes..like also the use of (...)

RAINBOW
cannot link the title to the album's tracks. it's nice but not that matched.

Memorial Address
lovely

MY STORY
banal, nothing to comment

(miss)understood
this title is legendary. Lov ethe double sense combined words. Great.

Secret
it's maybe my favourite album but still now i don't have totally understood it. So right choice.

Guiltydeep album, strong title. Like it.

NEXT LEVEL
great title for that album, it suited perfectly.

Rock'n'Roll Circus
matches the album, but totally hate it (personal opinion)

Love songsSince I desired more love songs lately yaay i'm happy though it's banal i like it

A Song for ××
-Cute title, you can dedicate any song to whomever.

LOVEppears
-Don't really like this title. But the way Ayu talked about it was nice.

Duty
-Makes it seem like music is her duty, so a good album title

I am...
-Makes it seem like she wants to establish an identity

RAINBOW
-Like a rainbow of colors, a rainbow of music <3 Different variety and styles

Memorial address
-I love this title

MY STORY
-I like this to, makes it seem that the album is a very personal story to Ayu

(miss)understood
-I like the word play I guess

Secret
-The meaning behind the title is what I like <3

GUILTY
-Ehh kind of iffy on this for being an album title

NEXT LEVEL
-She did want to go to the next level (too bad in my mind she fell down a level)

Rock'n'Roll Circus
-Lol no

Love songs
-Gurl do better

A Song for XX ~

I actually love this title. ^_^ It flows well and the Xs give it some originality.

LOVEppears ~

Really love now, though it confused me at first. Only Ayu could make this one.

Duty ~

Simple yet nice because I don't hear many songs with the word duty. I don't-

I am... ~

Kinda boring but it sounds nicer when you listen to the album/see album artwork/ get message of album.

RAINBOW ~

Unoriginal, luckily the cover saves it. So do the capital letters too though.

Memorial address ~

Favorite album title from Ayu. It's so pretty sounding and meaningful to me. <3

MY STORY ~

Another boring overused one. It's not horrible though.

(miss)understood ~

Fortunately, she spelled it weird so it isn't as bad as ^

Secret ~

Boring but I like it =)

GUILTY ~

Not too creative, but it makes you think what the album would be about before hearing it.

NEXT LEVEL ~

I really hated it when I first heard it, but now I really have no feelings towards it.

Rock'n'Roll Circus ~

I still think it sounds really cheesy. XD

Love songs ~

Sounds like it should be a compilation album.

I love them all, they're very unique. Although, Love songs is probably the most generic, obviously.
