I don't think so. Microphone is pretty typical of the "melodic" rock that she does.

She might have one on the album...but I think she wanted to go in a different direction for the title track.

but yeah...then I guess, she might do that for all the tracks...but I dont think it'd be weird for her to do a rock song like she always does. She always has at least ONE lol

i just think her voice (vocals) doesn't suit the YEA-EYYYYYY part...yes it does sound raw and full of emotion, it's just not easy on the ears for me. (I don't like it when she does too much vibrato either...lol)

Even though she's my favorite artist, she doesn't have the best voice. 0_0

You know, the 1 thing that reli caught my attention was the guitar riff with Last angel's melody, because remember the first stanza of Last angel?

"I believe you can hear me
I want to tell you
"This bell sound announcing the end
Bears no sad tone at all""

It seems like this "bell sound" is Love song... it's pretty amazing

Of course she doesn't have the best voice, but I believe her voice has improved so much within the last year. Ever since that disastrous 'evolution' performance. And she's not doing the vibrato very much in Love song, which is great...because sometimes it gets on my nerves, too. xD
And one of the reasons why I love ayu so much, and she is such a unique artist is because she doesn't have a perfect voice. ; )

That's what I think too. As much as I love Microphone, she has other songs that are similar to it, which makes it not as special. Love song stands out a lot more and imo if you compare the two it just makes Microphone look like crap. but well, if you compare a lot of other songs to Love song they'll seem like crap anyway lol.

yeah I don't really care that her voice isn't perfect it's just that it's SO unique. there is no other artist out there that sounds like her imo

How does Love song stand out? It can be likened to Last Links and (miss)understood, and her vocal style is reminiscent of her earlier stuff.

If you're going to call Microphone un-original, you can't call this song 'fresh' and 'new'. I love this song, don't get me wrong, but like her latest singles, it reminds me of her earlier stuff with a modern touch.

It stands out because of the intro, all the different styles mixed in, the way it's arranged, and her vocals (yes she has used this vocal technique before, but it still stands out, especially recently since her voice doesn't sound like this in most of her tracks) I don't think it really sounds that much like those songs you mentioned. I can hear a little of Last Links, but Love Song has so much more going on in it than those other songs do that make it more interesting. That's just what I think, and I or anyone else can certainly call this song fresh and new and Microphone not. It seems like you're trying to tell people they can't think a certain way, which is extremely rude. Everyone is free to think whatever they want.

You expressed your opinion, I expressed mine. Never said you couldn't think a certain way. What exactly is your problem?

+1

I really like this song... but there's just something about it that puts me off. It was probably the really odd "YEEEE-AH" scream

Of course she did it for the emotion. That sound JUST HAPPENS to be a sound that doesn't appeal to my ears is all

Oh I didn't mean necessarily a rock song, I mean something that would ABSOLUTELY BLOW ME AWAY, as I've been listening to Microphone nearly every day since it came out and before that listening to the Honda CM like a fiend, lol. Love song is apparently the lead song of the album, and those I usually really love.

Honestly, I'm not disappointed but I'm not super impressed. The musical arrangement is good but the music just doesn't evoke any feelings in me. The lyrics are amazing though, Ayu never ceases to amaze me with her lyrics. <3 And I do love her voice here. So basically I like the song but it's not my favorite Ayu song.

Within ayu's discography, this song is arguably more "original" or at least less run of the mill than microphone which has a traditional structure that most 80% of her songs has (not that there's anything wrong with it). Same thing goes for the composition.

Personally I'm completely blown away with this song I've been listening to it non stop since it leaked. Does anyonw know who composed this? I really don't feel like I can add anything more to the discussion, I'm just really happy with this album so far, I have a feeling it could turn into one of my top favourite albums from her, something that hasen't really happened in ages... And I love Dream on too.

Oh the first part of the melody, it sounds like a folk tune almost, doesen't it?

(If she does something more rockish for this album, I hope it will be more along the lines of what she did on RAINBOW or MY STORY, less cluttered sound picture and less hardcore, especially considering that the tracks we have already are more or less all of them well within the vein of pop).

I'm glad that most people are liking the song. I'm not THAT excited to hear it, but it's great to see positive reactions. I've been able to stay calm about this, and wait patiently for my copy of the album.

Though who knows what will happen on the 22nd...

After the barrage of Ayu ballads this song was a nice change. Although this song has no particularly new elements it sounds an evolution of her rocky-ballad songs. It sounds a lot of a continuation to "I Am...". The vocals are very raw and unpolished. They're not perfect but they suit the song perfectly. I really like that Hope the rest of album follows a similar direction quality wise.
