I don't know, maybe I'm not just not use to the somber of the Kouhaku audience... I've only seen a few of her performances.

I think not laughing at her but laughing out of surprise or happiness, because she didn't show up on stage but behind the audience.

@jbrat2219: Jup, "Kouhaku" is quite somber. I also had to get used to it, but that's just the way it is!
