Namie Amuro scores 9th #1 album!!



Namie Amuro's latest album Checkmate! sold 253,000 units this week securing her spot at the top of the album charts. This gives Namie the rare privilege of having a number 1 album in three different decades (90s, 00s, and 2010s) Overall it's her 9th #1 album.

Singer, Namie Amuro (33), reached another milestone with the release of a new compilation featuring her work with various artists. The new set, "Checkmate!" debuted atop the Oricon Album Chart with 253,000 units. The success of the album has pushed her total compact disc sales as a solo artist passed the 30 million mark making her only the fourth solo artist to ever achieve such sales.

I came here to look for any more record numbers for Checkmate! sales, but I got sidetracked by that promo photo
