When you post youtube videos, you just have to post the part after the = sign in the [youtube] tags. I hit "quote" to get your full length and it does sound very Ayu-ish.

The song I have in mind is pretty obvious... |

Neither of these songs reminds me of Ayu, not even a little. And I have to say, not my taste either ... So what do you hear in your first and second post? I'm curious

Neither sound Ayuish to me... But it's possible that Ayu and the composers of those songs took the same bands as inspirations

Well, this topic would work the other way around. Because every time I listen to the entire "Love songs" album, I just imagine the songs being in video games. I can imagine "sending mail" to be in a RPG game, "Like a doll" being in a Final Fantasy game, etc.

Interesting thread.
The first one sounds a bit Ayu-ish. Perhaps 'cause it's rock. But I do not recognise the 'obvious' song in number two. Random: when Love Songs came out, 'Like A Doll' reminded me of a theme from Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. To be more specific: 'Nothing Set in Stone' was the remix called. When you guys probably hear it, you will think I am deaf. Anyway, here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0ZTyCxbdok And I heard a like-a-dollish tune from: 0:48 - 2:00, 2:30 - 3:00

With some extra production this could easily be another typical creepy Ayu interlude leading to a song like Marionette or Criminal. |

I thought the first two songs you posted sounded very Ayu-ish! "Promise" isn't what I'd expect from her, but I'd totally be ok with it. SH2's score is amazing.
Can we make a case for "Theme of Laura," too?Chills. Every time. ![]() If we're also talking about the reverse situation (Ayu songs that made you think of a game), whenever I hear "Pieces of SEVEN," I have the weirdly specific mental image of sorting through my inventory in Parasite Eve. When I finally got my OST earlier this year, I tried to find the specific track (for awhile I really thought she might have sampled it since the mental image was so vivid), but none of the songs really sound like "Pieces of SEVEN." I think it's mostly memories of these two songs mushed together (one plays in the police station, and I think the other is in Central Park?). Spoiler:
Or I've just had PE on the brain, while Ayu is ~always on my mind or whatever. Edit: Quote:

If anyone has ever played Donkey Kong Country for Super Nintendo, Pieces of SEVEN interlude from NEXT LEVEL has always reminded me of that water level...
