"Ue kara Mariko" (Mariko from above)

Originally, it was to be "Hashire Penguin" but since the song didn't fit her, they wrote another one and gave "Hashire" to Team 4 to be the Theater ver. B-side. The PV is showing at a handshake event and apparently has a school theme.

Yeah, Mariko is awesome enough that they'd scrap the A-side, change the concept and have the single named for her.

The title suggests to me that she'll probably be a teacher or in some position of authority but yeah Maririn single FTFW.

EDIT: Yeah, it's confirmed that Mariko is indeed a teacher and Sayaka is a gym teacher. And for some reason Harunyan has a red dress on.

I think it's to represent Nyan's red Janken dress that she wore for both tournaments to make her lucky. Which it did xD

The song sounds nice so far, similar to a UG song.

When I first saw this I though that Mariko named song is a little bit too much but now I think she deserves it after years of being in shadow of Oshima and Maeda

These are still kind of cheap.......but yeah...Ucchii totally got jipped. I heard the preview for Ue kara Mariko and I think Chance no Junban (albeit a big generic) is still the better song....I really like the Penguin song based on the preview though...I wish they kept that as the main song instead of giving it to the pseudo-Team 4.....

I like the theme. can't wait for PV

I love the covers! Yeah, the photoshopping is definitely awful, but Mariko looks ****ing amazing and since she's easily the first thing to catch your eye when you look at them, I don't mind the other girls so much. It's just too bad the song is typical as all hell, even more so than CnJ. I'm hoping it grows on me from meh to whoa, like Flying Get did.

Would've wished for sth sexier too, she has a gorgeous figure .

What bugs me is that Sayaka is younger than Mariko but looks older. All the cutesy stuff makes her look really out of place. I love her maturity, but it doesn't suit the AKB image sometimes .

Thoughts on the PV preview:
-Still disappointed in how unfitting the song choice is for Mariko
-Really plain PV, with janken of course once again put into the plot (not like CnJ's PV had one)
-Ew, get Shizuka out of there; she's gross
-I love Ami, but she looks just plain fug in the close-up shots

That's about it. AKB has a way of consistently disappointing me when I expect great things, and surprising me when I expect the least. I have a feeling the next single will be greatness, since I'm really not expecting much, with it probably being the February release after all.

I kind of agree; this kind of puts me into a negative outlook here... I'm guessing that it's not going to get a million in the first week alone... (too much bias, as what he/she said above?)

You're talking about this single?

Unfortunately, the 16 members selected for the lead song ("Ue kara Mariko", and the covers) were done by a "janken" (rock-paper-scissors) tournament (did we talk earlier?), and those girls, I think, were eliminated before reaching the final 16 that would end up as the 16 girls to be leading the single...
