Started listening to COVERS. Can't get into it. Japanese -> English never works out, even for the flawless BENI, sorry. The songs all have incredibly awkward phrasing.

^ I learned to not pay too much attention to the lyrics, and just enjoy the music itself. A lot of her songs have cheesy lyrics as hell anyways, japanese, or english. lol

obviously if you don't know how the original songs sound like , listening to COVERS seem & feel as though it's totally alien/new

I've heard the originals that were sung by Ken Hirai & Kobukuro . Listening to BENI's English takes on them is just really refreshing & something different

She could have sung the songs in its original language but the fact that she went 1 step further & translate the lyrics to English , that's something you don't see it everyday

the fact that COVERS reached a new peak position of #3 in its 2nd week , I think it's saying a lot as it's not often I see releases that reach new peak positions that's even better than its 1st week performance

I understand that there is some nostalgia tied with the tracks.

But that doesn't change the fact that the songs sound like really off-beat poems. The way BENI sings it is just incredibly awkward. I'm not sure how to describe it. BENI doesn't really attempt to rhyme or anything, it just sounds like a bunch of thoughts in her head that she's singing against a backdrop of music.

The music is pretty though.

maybe in the process when she translated the lyrics from Japanese to English , somehow or other , the original meaning in the choice of songs she covered tends to get lost or sounds off key in English ?

I do admit I was skeptical when I found out she was releasing COVERS . Even I wondered how will it fare in that will it tanked or performed well on Oricon

To say the performance of COVERS exceeded my exceptations , it's an understatement haha

don't really like the cover that much but the setlist's awesome !

Really great to see her covered Fukuyama Masaharu-san's Sakurazaka & Ken Hirai's Hitomi wo Tojite <3
