Why not? I live like a million miles from there, but if she's never been to South 'Merica before, it's due. She's definitely got fans there.

Michael Jackson during the 90's walked all over brazilian slums and nothing bad happened to him (of course he had security with him though), same thing with Kylie shooting onew of her videos here, though it was probably in the 80's (one of her clips in the slums with Mangueira school) but, anyways, I wouldn't really be as much concerned with security as anywhere else she went around the world. Danger is everywhere, I mean, a 25yo(or so) guy from my city never was a victim of any crime here and the day he went to Toronto, he got shot in the head by a lost bullet because of some stupid gang fight he wasn't involved into And my city is well known for its violence, but I have several friends here who were never robbed here but had the chance to know what it is like (to be robbed) once they put their feet in Paris lol In any big city you just have to know where and when you should or shouldn't attempt to visit. I heard that many tourists were robbed during London olympics; ayu seems to have attended the event there herself lol

It's just that truthfully she has never come to one of the biggest countries in the world and she should, there's a big part of Japan here in Brazil, though I'm really not aware of how much they are into ayumi hamasaki From the types of trips ayu takes I can picture her going to Canada sooner than Brazil, though, to be honest, so I don't think you should worry that much lol

Ayu's biggest community at Orkut* have around 6k members nowadays... During Orkut's peak, it had over 10k members... Enough to sell out venues some of our major stars perform in.^^ As we have a huge japanese population, a lot of aspects of japanese pop culture were already huge over her way before it took the west... We were watching animes and super sentais since the early 80s (even before if we consider National Kid and Ultraman, my dad watched them on TV when he was a kid) and Mauricio de Sousa (a kind of brazillian Walt Disney) is heavily influenced by manga aesthetic, both because he was an Osamu Tezuka fan (and close friend later) and because the majority of his illustrators and his main art director (that is his wife now) are japanese decendents. Studing Mauricio's relationship with manga was actually my major project during college

PS. Orkut is a social website owned by Google nowadays that was really popular in Brazil and India (not sure if it still big in India) among other countries. It works pretty much like Facebook on most aspects, but instead of pages, it has communities, that are webforums about any subject someone bother creating a community for. It's popularity went down with the rise of Facebook, but a lot of people (me included) still use it because of the discussion possibilities of having the forums there.
