Costs a lot of money to produce, distribute, and market an album. I don't think Avex would be happy if she sold 40 albums that only sold 10k each.

^^ It was probably cheaper to make Ayumi's 4 albums this year then it was for namies one though... just look into what they have to do for each and stuff.

the fact is, avex wouldn't do it if they weren't making money off of ayumi's stuff. (i liked the idea of a summer best, but lets face it, it was useless)

Ayumi's 2012 releases:
- 4 different photoshots with hyped photographer.
- 22 new songs, counting songwriting, producer, arrangment, recording, mixing and musicians, at least 14 done overseas.
- 9 remixes with top DJ's.
- 4 different CMs, including airing time on TV.
- 4 different Print promotion, including hiring of the billboards/bus/trucks.
- 10 different music videos, at least 3 recorded overseas.
- Logistic of 13 different products (counting all versions of the albums).
- All the discs, printing, cases, playbuttons and bonuses for each of 13 products (considering that the most copies you do, the less you pay, so, the most versions, the less copies you can do of everything).


Namie's 2012 releases:
- 2 photoshots with hyped photographer.
- 7 new songs, counting songwriting, producer, arrangment, recording, mixing and musicians.
- 3 remixes done by the album producers + 1 remix by top DJ.
- 2 different CMs, including airing time on TV.

It's easy to see who spent the most money.

Namie song production:
- create a digital track and occasionally add some band instruments, pay 5 people

Ayumi song production:
- create songs almost fully acoustic and orchestrated, pay up to 100 people for every track(most of the time probably 20-30)

Namie video production:
- have Namie sing in front of a greenscreen with her dancers behind her

Ayumi video production:
- travel to another country, book a variety of sets and shoot in them using a mix of your own dancers and extras

Ayumi produced and released twice the material... What costs you more? Buying 1 apple or 2?

fact is, you can say as many *cool* facts as you want too.
But the numbers are not there... We dont know how much it cost.

But if you ask me, Namie is more popular right now, so her time is MORE then ayumi. When it involves anything to do with namie its going to cost more because she is in right now.

Composers usually take around 30% of the profit(after deducting the "workforce" -> promo, musicians involved etc), unless they have a bad contract, so no 2 for 1 there.

Yeah, because both Ayu's and Namie's releases are always on promotion that's why people need to sell their internal organs to complete their collection from either of the girls...

They can put more money on Ayu's stuff after all she is the one who brought the more money to them since her debut =)

Do we know that? I find it rather questionable. Sure, Ayumi has higher overall sales, but she also has an incredibly extensive videography and discography and most of her releases contain at least one very pricey aspect - some of which are most certainly not profitable (take the Days/GREEN single for example, they most certainly made a minus on it considering the GREEN video alone was reported to have cost 1.8 million dollars, yet "only" 190k copies at around 12-24 dollar each were sold, barely bringing those 1.8 million back in - and that's not yet considering the other PV with it's various sets and extras, the production of the music itself, the promotion of the single, the physical production of the single, the cut music stores take, logistics...)
On the other hand, most of Namie's releases appear to be very cost effective, at least since 2008 or so.

If they spent 1 000 000 $ for an Ayu's PV I think there is a reason ? She is the only avex singer who has PVs who cost more than 1 M $ maybe in 2008 it was not profitable but her peak was already ended ! At her peak it has been reported that she was responsible of 40 % of Avex's grossing.
