Found the quote! It's in the beginning of the interview.

"But overall, I had a lot of fun making this album. It’s got quite a masculine feel to it but that’s because that’s the way I am at the moment. It’s got quite a nice feeling to it I think."

Do you think HS sounds masculine? I always saw it as her most feminine.

You know, I may be forever marke as having bad taste, but from the first day I heard HS to this very day, although I like Take 5, next to Flavor of life and Boku wa kuma, it was one of the forgettable songs on the album... I always skipped that song back then and don't really ever care to hear it much. :-/ It's catchy and sounds really nice though.

It wouldn't be commercially successful though and that is all that matters.

I would let Utada go bankrupt penniless for that Album though. I'm not telling you no lie.

^I don't know, I still think Utada could easily outsell Kuu and Ayu, even if she put out an album with the sounds of her making breakfast.

I mean, this is the woman who put out a music video of her washing dishes in her kitchen along to one of the most popular songs in her discography.

I can't believe it's been 12 years since 'Hikari'. This is the longest time I've been a fan of a musician before, let alone a Japanese musician lol.

So glad that Utada brought me to the world of J-Pop (and then later on, K-Pop, inadvertently).

Dude, she could record the dialogue she speaks while taking a dump and that would sell more than First Love. An album with a pure ethereal theme would be amazing, and I think it would sell quite well.

^I wonder the same thing too, I really really hope she will do the theme song despite the whole controversy or whatever I don't really remember about it. If she's not the one singing the theme to KH3, it won't be the same or SE could just shove us Hikari again lol

I think we should make a project in twitter, mass-mention her to make a theme song for KHIII, lol. It's the final saga and numbered (main title), I don't want to hear Passion and hikari repeatedly, hahahha.

Sorry, I'm just too excited with the announcement of KH III today, lol.

Interviewer: Are you going to be involved in the soundtrack for Kingdom Hearts III?
Utada: I don’t think so, I don’t know. Probably not.
Mr. Utada (her father): We said no to Disney.
Interviewer: You turned down Disney?
Mr. Utada: Yeah. Because they don’t pay.

And God, please don't let her release something repeated like her fans are asking her to, let Godutada keep envolving and surprising us with unexpected music. <3

Let the repeated crap to the Avex girls...

^Did her fans asked her to release something repeated? I never know Hikari and Passion sound alike, and imo those two songs differ and I can still see her experimental qualities in both songs.

I personally didn't wish her to 'release something repeated', but the fact that her music made the two Kingdom Hearts as a 'perfect' game made me realized that it would felt different for Kingdom Hearts 3 if she doesn't sing in it. I don't mind any kind of song from her for KH3 as long as she's singing. Besides I hope that by asking her and/or Disney/SE they can work something out for the problem.

The exposure Utada could get from Kingdom Hearts III.

Mr. Utada's will isn't strong enough to keep his fat fingers from what is his- I mean his daughter's.

Or Disney will just remix us "Simple & Clean". They used the orchestral version for the reveal trailer. Too late to bring someone in with a different sound now. They have their sound. Might just forgo a theme song this time. Not all games have them.

The masses aren't thinking about a song anyway. They don't care. They just want a Game. We care because we are here. Lulz.

Do ya'll think Utada's absence has any influence on Namie's popularity?

Because like out of the 4, Namie is really the only one out there right now. Lawd knows ayumi don't count no mo'. Afraid to even release a Single. That should be the least of her worries. It's them Album sales. And Kumi Koda is stagnant and stuck in a rut and hasn't really tried to mature and evolve. Her baby will mature and grow before her music ever does.

I feel like the only one of the originals left to go to right now is Namie so nobody has a choice. And Namie is taking full advantage. She'll release another album at the beginning of next year if she doesn't quit and become a full time Mentor of ayumi hamayuck.

Hikki really needs to find that perfect balance between her personal life and career and just make music again on her terms. It's not the same without her.
I agree
