I don't know, maybe because english is not my first language, I find it cool myself But what I meant is that she probably didn't mean it in a bad way toward anyone, it's just something to laugh about.

I prefer No Bitches Please to "Haters Gonna Hate" etc as it seems more tongue in cheek.

Seriously guys? Soooo many Japanese accessories will literally just have english swear words on them for no reason other than to look cool. I kind of doubt this hat is Ayu's take-that at her haters or anything - she probably knows what it means and just thought it was funny. This is coming from the girl who typed "WHERE U @ BITCH????" in a PV and who wore a hat saying "CHIP CHIP pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~S" or something absurd like that a while back

She's just having fun, don't look into it too much

EDIT: uh... censor filter still on, I guess? I meant "CHIP CHIP MOTHERF*****" but i'm gonna leave that mess of pretty ponies because it looks fun :3

The word bitch doesn't have such a negative connotation in Japan. People would probably take as much offence as being called a "bitch" as they would a "hater". I can imagine she sees it as more of a cool phrase than anything rebellious.

At first I couldn't believe that hat, but it's lightyears better than using the term Haters in any way, shape or form. That stupid phrase is just ridiculous and comes of with such self-righteousness it's just ridiculous.

I've seen a teenage boy walk around central Stockholm wearing a shirt with the word "fuck" on it, and Swedes in general understand English a lot better than Japanese people. I think that for the most part people don't get too fazed by a foreign language's foul words, because while they carry a lot of expression, they don't carry the appropriate cultural expression, if you get what I mean. I'd feel more insulted if someone threw me Swedish insults rather than American ones, I simply connect more (personally and culturally) to things in my native language and I think that's true for many others (including Japanese people) as well.
Anyway, I'm definitely getting the cap and the shirt, still undecided on the other stuff...

I'd like to think that Timmy suggested that and Ayu found it funny and pitched it to the ones who designed the cap.

Haters gonna hate <- not everyone can get what "gonna" means.

No Bitches Please is simple and direct. Everyone can understand.

I know that a lot of Japanese people like English (foul) words just because it's English and often they even don't know what it means. But Ayu speaks and understands enough English to know the negative connotation.

I simply have enough of all those girls calling each other a bitch. Most of the time it actually doesn't make any sense concerning the original meaning of the word bitch (leaving aside the fact that I would never call a girl a bitch because of "inappropriate sexual behaviour"). For those girls it's simply just "cool" to call each other bitch. It's childish and dumb. And it gets even more ridiculous when gay guys also start calling each other bitch. At some point you aren't 12 or 13 anymore and it doesn't speak for your maturity if you still call someone bitch in public just because it's "cool". (And in this case the operative word is in public. I don't care what inside jokes people make in their clique.)

I honestly think "no bitches please" is A LOT better the "haters gonna hate" or anything like that. The first one seems like something supposed to be cool and fun and not really supposed to be meaningful, but the second one seems kind of desperate and would sound like she's too worried about the haters...

I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I see no problem in people who call each other "bitch" if it's in a playful or friendly way and not supposed to be offensive. If they like it, then what's the problem?! Don't judge so much other people's way of talking just because it's different than the way you rather speak...

As Ayu-me said further up, simply knowing the connotation isn't really enough. I'm sure everyone knows a few rude phrases/words from languages that aren't their first one, but they just don't have the affect that your native language's words do. If someone says something rude to me in my second language it really doesn't have the same effect as someone cussing me out in English. Maybe it's because we were all brought up knowing certain words were really, really bad and it's more psychological than anything as to why we now give native language rudeness so much power over us.

Besides, Ayu knows this merchandise is primarily focused at her Asian fans. Even if she does understand and sees 'bitch' as something rude (something I doubt), her audience will not and they'll just see it as cool English. It's knowing your audience too.

I think you're comparing two very different situations - teenagers swearing and calling each other by stereotypically negative words to seem 'cool', and then another culture seeing a non-native language as cool. But if you deem both situations immature I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. To be honest, I don't really like the hat, but I don't see it as immature, just a clash of tastes...Ayu is trying very hard to be young and edgy again, and I prefer the days when she was actually young and edgy without trying lol, without having to be seen as a 'party queen'.

Not sure if this was posted, but a Japanese newspaper article about a-nation stated/confirmed that Ayu will be the last act.
