2NE1 INVITES 21 FANS TO THEIR PRIVATE MUSIC-LISTENING EVENT BEFORE COMEBACK



[스포츠조선=이정혁 기자] 2NE1 holds a private music-listening event titled “THE LISTENING”.

2NE1 is to release a new regular album three and a half years after the release of their first regular album “TO ANYONE” in September 2010. Before the disclosure of the music of their second regular album “CRUSH” on-line at midnight on the 25 this month, 2NE1 holds private music-listening event “THE LISTENING” in Seoul on the 20.

21 people including fans selected through on-line music-streaming sites and from 2NE1 fan club, as well as experts from different fields, will be invited to the event. It will be a precious opportunity for 2NE1 to disclose the new songs they ambitiously created to the guests and to listen to their review of the songs in advance before the official release of the album. The location and time of the event will be known only to the 21 selected listeners.

The poster of “THE LISTENING” event, which was disclosed on NAVER MUSIC on the 17 is catching the eyes of many people, with its mystical feel. In the poster, there is a hand that is stretched out to light in the space and the title of the event “’PRIVATE EVENT THE LISTENING” with words “2NE1 NEW ALBUM CRUSH”.

Generally, a showcase is held before a singer releases a new album, but 2NE1 holds this unusual private music-listening event. This is the expression of 2NE1’s confidence in the new album that they want to receive a fair evaluation for the album on which they have been working hard for a long time, from fans and experts of different fields.

In their first regular album “TO ANYONE”, 2NE1 attempted a wide variety of genres including electronic, hip-hop, and slow tempo. Plus, they have entertained fans with their bold trial of new genres and dramatic transformations for every new song. Thus, it is worthwhile to pay attention to what review the experts will give to 2NE1’s new music at the event.

2NE1’s new album contains total ten songs and it is known that there will be three songs that are composed and written by CL for the first time in the album. So, fans are paying keen attention to the album.

Meanwhile, 2NE1 will disclose the performance of the new songs in their second regular album at the Seoul concert of their second world tour “ALL OR NOTHING”, which will be held on March 1 and 2 at Olympic Park SK Handball Hall located in Seoul.

NEWS ABOUT ‘2NE1’ : PART 2

So, continuing with the news on 2NE1.

We have urgently postponed 2NE1’s 2nd album release date from the original schedule of 12am on February 24th
to 12am on February 26th <which is 0 hour of February 27th>.
The offline album will be released on March 7th as planned.

The reason for the urgent change of date is to release the album on a more special day instead,
as CL’s birthday falls on February 26th, especially because whopping three songs composed and written by CL
for the first time are included in the 2nd album.
I ask for your generosity and understanding for the change.

Details on 2NE1’s titles song?

As this is the first full album released for the first time after several years,
we are ambitious to showcase as many songs as we can,
but since we are at a point where careful selection and focus are required,
we chose two songs for double title songs.

2NE1’s first title song is “COME BACK HOME.”
Many of you would be reminded of the mega-hit “COME BACK HOME”
released by Seotaeji and Boys in 1995,
but 2NE1’s upcoming track is a completely different,
filled with melody and lyrics about yearning for the long-gone lover.

This is a joint work of YG’s main producer TEDDY and other producers,
which encompasses a crossover mixture of R&B, reggae and hip-hop.

The noteworthy feature of the 2nd album is the unplugged version of “COME BACK HOME.”
The two different versions are greatly different from each other,
so we produced two music videos for both songs, which will be released on February 28th simultaneously.

The second title song “GOTTA BE YOU”, a joint work by YG’s producers TEDDY and PK,
is a fast-paced song that leaves an impact through BOM’s powerful cry of “Gotta Be You.”
We made the decision to make this the second title song as it has an impression of mainstream taste.

How many music videos will be produced for the 2nd album?

A total of four music videos will be showcased this time.

As mentioned earlier, the two versions of “COME BACK HOME” music videos
will be released simultaneously on February 28th,
and the other double title song “GOTTA BE YOU” will come next,
and the music video of a song titled “HAPPY” filmed in the U.S. will follow.

The track list of 2NE1’s 2nd album will be released tomorrow at 10pm.

I'm sick of this whole media play done by these large Korean music companies. Just stop the bull and release your artists material when you are 100% ready to do so. The whole 'SM-vs-YG' release cat and mouse game is so off putting and ridiculous.

^Personally I dont understand or get the whole thing with how they create ALL this HYPE before a release without even offering any REAL PROPER info on the release til almost last minute. I "love" the theatrics too. Like the video of 2NE1 getting all emotional over everything to do with the album & tour. It wasn't even a real interview really. TBH, I've been ignoring as much of it as possible. Just swing by Facebook once a day to see if there's any REAL news and leave.
Wish they'd just do it like America, UK or Japan does it. Release some actual photos and clips of the covers, concepts AND the music itself.The album comes out next week and EVEN NOW we only have the titles of 3 songs.... and have no audio of even what they sound like. Plus still no album cover.

Also I will NEVER UNDERSTAND the wars between labels. To me, the label doesn't mean a damn thing. It's the particular artist that does. I really don't care about YG or any other label coming out with new groups. Half of Korea's population under 30 will probably be part of KPOP groups in the next few years at the rate they're going.

Thank you. Your post is full of everything I've been saying for a long time. I've almost lost complete interest in 2NE1's new album because of 'His Royal Majesty King Troll YG's' incessant display of incompetence. It just gets irritating when:

1. A company announces a release date
2. The release date comes and nothing is released
3. I get pissed
4. I then find out that the date was pushed back.
5. Re-read 1. through 4. until you are blue in the face.

I don't get why certain record labels in the S. Korean music industry practice the whole "last minute announcement+promotion" marketing when it comes to their artists either. I guess it prevents fans from waiting too long but there's no point if releases keep getting pushed back especially for many months or years (like 2NE1, Taeyang, SNSD, etc.). And I agree with you on the fact that new boy and girl groups are debuting practically every damn month. It's tiring and unnecessary.

That's just how the market there works. We're not used to it because we're not there. Though I find it ridiculous how he could just FORGET CL's birthday and announced the release on the 24th and now pushing it back to 26th.
