Almost every single old song, and Feel the Love, is pitched down. I guess because a lot of these songs have been performed when she was younger, and she put a lot more energy and spirit into it, I felt underwhelmed with Whatever, Last Angel, Connected... actually everything.

I like the set up of this concert, but she's doing too much of what Rihanna does, letting the playback sing and not even lipsync to it. And then she lipsyncs the rest. I dunno. LOL.

I was watching A Museum recently, and a lot of her power and performance style comes from her eyes in the earlier tours. Here, she has the same eyes almost for the entire show. I don't FEEL anything from them, whereas when she was younger, her eyes conveyed everything. I think that's what's changed. I dunno. I found myself kind of fast forwarding through a lot. But she put a lot of time and effort into this, I can see that... I just wish I could connect with her again... ahhhh. This is frustrating that I can't watch what you guys are watching. Like I mean, a good solid performance. This is just really "Meh..." to me.

I felt underwhelmed with the concert, too. It was just... a whole lot of nothing until she finally seemed to liven up a little in the last 20-25 minutes. But by then, I was so bored I ended up tuning the rest out, which is a shame because NOW & 4EVA was the song I looked forward to the most.

I'm disappointed because the concert looked great from the previews and I expected to enjoy it as much as I did the past few concerts, but it was just so underwhelming. Nothing really happened, there was no real performance or set pieces, it was sort of just her standing there on stage with people dancing around her for two hours, lol. And... that works for some songs, but not for an entire concert.

The highlight for me was Angel, but even there I thought the execution could have been a lot better.

But you know, most of the concert, I felt like she was such a non-presence. She didn't really do anything, so she just got lost in her swarm of dancers.

But at least she sounded good and looked good aside from a few weird hair choices! I'm not sure how much of it she lip-synched, but I thought she sounded great overall

^ I felt the same way, she really did seem like she just did what she had to get done with the show. I began to feel her presence on NOW & 4EVA and the last few songs though. I think Ayu is really at point that she keeps doing this for her fans even though she herself might not want to anymore...

Can anyone tell me if the first clothing is Jean-Paul Gaultier?
Cause I remember much of what he has done corset for Madonna, including one for the tour MDNA. I searched it and saw some corset that closely resembles the ayu! I believe that so far no *-*

when you guys mention that, it did look like she was a bit disconected.

i think this was the concert she did for just having fun and i can feel that! she smiles all the time and she has put so much effort for this one imo. i was expecting boring show because of many negative comments from people here but i really enjoyed the whole show expect Lelio, the one performance i was waiting for the most and she blew it.. it was just pain to watch it

damn you ayu what you did

Great concert, great setlist! But the camera angles are really annoying me, will they change them for the official DVD?

I do agree with the general sentiment that she seems "checked out", CDL1314 felt that way to me too until we got to the Love song performance. I think the contacts she wears might be part of it too. There's something about them that definitely lessens how much emotion shows through her eyes.

Technically speaking, the concert was great. It was fun to see some things she never did before, and I was *so* proud of the way she pulled off the tissue dance, though she looked a little bit stiff at some parts. (Probably nerves, and I can't blame her for that.)

But I feel the same way you guys do. There's a marked difference between her performance in this tour (and, to an extent, the past couple years) and her earlier shows where it just feels like she's missing that spark she had. You can see it, or the lack of it, in her eyes. And even in this tour, during the last few songs when she really did start to get into it more...even THEN you can tell that she is actually enjoying herself, and it really stands out when you compare it to how she acted through the first 'act' of this concert.

Something else that really stood out to me this time was the 'choreography'. And I don't mean the dance routines, I mean...it just seemed like every single move that Ayu made was choreographed, be it lifting her hand at one point, or flipping her hair there, and it made it look so rehearsed and kind of stale. (NEVER EVER and Because of You particularly come to mind.) I don't really think I'm doing a good job of explaining myself. But I will also say that I largely prefer seeing her shows that are NOT filmed for the DVD, as she doesn't go quite so over-the-top with her acting. I think she definitely hams it up for the cameras at the final performance, and it's almost always to her detriment because she tends to overdo it and look absolutely ridiculous. It's been a problem for the past 5 or 6 years I think but, especially with Rock'n'Roll Circus, it's become extremely noticeable...and distracting.

ETA: Oh, thank god Koh stepped in to fill the I-love-Ayu-and-she's-over-there-crying-because-we-can't-be-together role now that Shuya's gone! I was worried for a while there. I swear to god, if we never see another performance like that it'll be too soon.

I know exactly what you mean and I hate it, too. I want to see her, idk, feel the music and not choreograph every tear lmao. A good example is Memorial address from A BEST LIVE. Her gestures and expressions look so genuine at the start of the song, and then by the end she's just going through the motions and performing choreographed emotions again.

ALSO, that What is forever love performance was a TRAVESTY. It was so ridiculous. Ayu comes out and does her rock set and then... as soon as Wifl starts, she jumps straight into the melodramatic REACHING FOR MY LOST BELOVED AND CRYING DRAMATICALLY bit and then she only sings half the song and just flails for the other half... I just... couldn't.

But that was the only performance I guess I outright hated lol

Every time I watch a concert of hers and she gets to that point in an emotional song I just listen to it and go serf the internet or something. Then when the song is over I'll maximize the video screen again to continue watching. lol I hate it too.

I like when she doing these expressions. I think is art and a good method to transmit the feelings, but I HATE when she uses these expressions when it's not the moment. For example when the song it's not that sad or not consistent with the letter.

I like a lot What is forever love? live...

I loved at the end when she is so happy, and starts to say "Yoyogi, aishiteru! bai bai! mata ne!"

Her voice is weird in this concert. I can't tell if they over-processed her voice in the editing or if there's a loud backing track that's just muffling her voice (or both).

All her past lives have had this same sound/feeling to them. It's like a smoothed over roughness. I can't quite explain it. But it's like a processed live.

Anyways, I haven't watched yet. But nothing will ever top R'n'R Circus tour. Even if the quality is on par with R'n'R, her vocals can't match it. R'n'R her vocals were STRONG. Full of POWER. Now they are processing it differently and it kind of makes everything look and sound superficial.

omg the connected and terminal performance gives me so much life...I feel like she should have topped it all off with the Above & Beyond remix of M! That would have been perfect.
