I still think she'll do it. If and when they ever release it. But if the rumors are true that the new KH will include Marvel and Star Wars characters, Hikki not doing the theme song isn't the worst thing that could happen to the game. x.x

Between this and the low pay, I would be shocked if she DID choose to work with them again (provided she isn't required to by contract, but somehow I think them stealing her music would make any contract they might have null and void.)

^Yeah, you know what? Now I really want to know what English lyrics hikki would write for Sakura Drops. I still wish she'd release the English version of Prisoner of Love since she wrote the lyrics in English first. (At least I'm pretty sure that's what she did. I read about it somewhere that it's not that uncommon for her to do that)

It's not illegal to cover a song. You just have to pay royalties. Most artists may never know when their songs are covered, they'll just get a check for royalties.

It's always nice to contact the artist but it's not a slap in the face. And her tweets about it didn't make her seem like she was actually that mad about it. She just felt bad that the singer had to attempt Japanese when it was obvious she might not have been a native speaker or fluent.

I can do a cover of this song, and have live at a bar before, and all that I have to do is remake it myself and pay royalties. Or, if you are performing it live, the venue automatically pays a fee to cover cover songs.

I've always been listening to utada very casually, I used to know only the most famous songs from her. Lately (it's been months) I've been listening to all her discography and I've realised how amazing some of her songs truly are. Pieces like sakuranagashi, beautiful world, tokyo nights... they really resonate with me and are so beautiful. I just wanted to share how a new fan of hikki is born ^^

I don't like them trying to set the overall tone and theme for her next Album, not that I believe the article saying that means anything. What are they going to do? Put Evangelion characters in her Album booklet? She's still going to make the songs she's going to make. I don't want an Evangelion soundtrack.

Mmm Tokyo Nights is love. I'm mostly a fan of Ultra Blue and then Deep River hikki. Heart Station is great but like watered down ultra blue to me minus a fee gems. Recently though I've been sort of rediscovering first love and distance because I never cared for them much in the past. But there are some gems on those albums too. So I've been in the mood for them a lot lately more than anything.

all over the span of 6 years. The last two being major releases and greatly furthering the main storyline. Hikki's dad even said that unless Disney pays them more for their work, they have no intention of making another Kingdom Hearts song.

Also let's not forget how pissed hikki got when she found out Disney on ice used her song Sakura Drops without her knowledge or permission. I'm pretty sure the window of opportunity has closed. Whatever hope we had for another song most likely just got shot down from that.

Hikki didn't get pissed about the Disney on Ice thing. She just said that if she had known that DoI had used her song in the setlist, she would have written an english version for the concert.

I'm confident that she will do the theme song for KH3. Even though Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance are part of the main storyline, they are still not part of the main series of games. Teruzane also posted in his twitter that she was in talks for the theme song.

Nomura also made an artwork for Utada Hikaru no Uta, so considering he was the one who chose Hikki for the theme songs and he did this for her now, they are still close and he' probably willing to have her on the third installment of KH.

btw, OLIVIA sang a song for one of the KH's spin offs, and it's really bad
