She's fir sure not a good representation when it comes to pop music in Germany. It would be like adding Rammstein to rhe list. And I thought about that too - Rammstein are more relevant than Helene Fischer I would say. But in general? Who cares about Rammstein besides the metal scene? Edit: pleasw excuse any mispelling - I write from my mobile phone.... LOL |

I have to correct you.
Schlager is extremly relevant here with pretty high sales and it is a form of pop music (take a look at german Wikipedia:http://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schlager). Though highest selling female Schlager singer is Andrea Berg, Helene Fischer is just No.2. But as I don't listen to Schlager, I can't recommend you any songs, I'm sorry. xD And btw. Volksmusik actually has the highest percentage of music sales in Germany and Schlager is normally included.

But regarding Schlager. No. It's not relevant at all. Schlager has its fans and sometimes when people are really drunk even younger peope listen to it. But it's not relevant or popular. Helene Fischer had one big hit with "Atemlos", but one hit song does not make someone relevant in general. No one will ever listen to Helene Fischer or Andrea Berg and say they had any influence to the music scene in Germany. They simply never had and never will. Just because it has high sales doesn't mean a lot of people listen to it. I mean, who listens to Schlager/Volksmusik? People over 50+. And that's exactly why its sales are high in comparison. Younger people just download music or listen to it via youtube. But no one gives a shit about Schlager besides people over 50+. Edit: I wouldn't say the Scorpions are really relevant today in Germany. But everyone knows them and from a historical point of view they are pretty interesting.
