ring your bell (in the silence) probably sounds better than the original.

I'm really curious about the b-side. I'm somehow sure it'll be better than the A-side. It's just the trend with their latest singles. Covers are great, as usual. The "ring your bell" font is a bit weird, though.

I'm kinda sad that some of artists thread is just a little active when a new release or leak or something, no discussion at all.
So here it is, to make it alive a little, a preview of "far on the water". Sounds like the bridge part of Mirai. FAR BETTER THAN RING YOUR BELL IMO.

I'm kind of worried that a lot of their songs are starting to sound the same. The song is okay.
As for little discussion on certain artists here, yeah, that's true for a lot of great artists here on AHS or anywhere else. But to be honest it's hard to bother posting anything in those kinds of threads because you know that very few people will read it or respond to it. So as far as discussions go, I'd rather go to cpm than talk about Kalafina here. |

far on the water is really nice. It's a soft and sweet song. I love the flute part. The use of this instrument is so uncommon in Jpop songs.
It's true that it's not a revolution and Kalafina and FJ's songs are similar especially since Pandora Hearts era. However, could we really be mad with Yuki Kajiura? She has composed a bunch of musics during her career. She can't always renew her sounds. She is also known for such sounds and it's quite possible that the producers ask her to do this kind of sound and not another one to match with their stories and their ideas. About the discussion: well a lot of unpopular artists' threads suffer from this lack of activity. I try to keep active some of them but it's true that it's very hard to have a continuous talk. The covers for Ring your bell reminds me a lot the landscape in symphonia's pv. We might get a similar pv for Ring your bell. |

So you're in cpm too? I left that forum months ago, lol. I said that because I know there are people who are interested to them here so why not discuss something with different people with their point of view, since not everyone is going to cpm too, but it's all to all of us anyway. Quote:
I ended up doing a long post, lol.

Well... I'm on cpm kind of, really. I almost never post, though. I just don't find much to say to people on there. The only reason I go there is to get the news quickest. I only post if I have some kind of question regarding Kajiura or something like that. But you know, I wouldn't mind discussing Kalafina with someone from here if that's what anyone here would like. I'm just generally more of a lurker than someone who posts her opinion. Quote:
Anyway, not hearing many of other works by Kajiura, I don't think I can really give much of an answer to your "can you differentiate between Kalafina and other YK works". I can definitely tell there's a different sound to most of FJ songs and Kalafina songs, except the mentioned ones. Long posts are good!

I met Yuki Kajiru for the first time when she was in See-Saw again. The ending of Gundam Seed and FictionJunction Yuuka first songs are the first works that I heard. With FictionJunction works, Kajiura uses simple and light arrangements with some solo instrument from time to time. The voice of the singer is what make the virtuosity and the unique side of her composition. The music is very popish and sometime rockish. When Kalafina released their first songs, Kajiura's compositions got an ethereal and otherworldly-fairy like sounds. As if the songs come from another world or a tale. With Parallele Hearts and the comeback of FictionJunction project as a band, Kajiura's sounds turned more into a majestic and anime like sound even if it's different from others singers (as Nana Mizuki for example). I think that in creating another band with similar voice, Kajiura tends to stop to separate both sound. To me, Red Moon album already hold songs with a similar sounds than FJ. Red Moon, progressive have the same vibe than Parallele Hearts (and later Distance, stone cold, eternal blue, ...). In Kalafina discography I think that songs as Kimi no gin no niwa, kugatsu, in your eyes, Hanataba,... are more in the FJ vibe too. While song as seventh heaven, Door, kagayaku sora(...), Eden, Moonfesta, Hikaru Furu,... are Kalafina-ish. Well, I don't know if what I wrote is really clear >.< Last edited by Yoake; 4th April 2015 at 12:47 PM. |

I like long post too!
![]() ring your bell is basically misterioso meets to the beginning, something like that, imo. I think for me, Kalafina is more magical, fairy tale-like, while FictionJunction is more versatile. Kalafina was formed originally solely for Kara no Kyoukai, after that, no more. But in the end, it became one of Kajiura most popular works. Thinking of Kara no Kyoukai (which basically most of the tracks in seventh heaven album), I think that's what I get from Kalafina, pure magical, fairy tale-like. For example: fairytale, ARIA, Kimi no Gin no Niwa, red moon, Natsu no Ringo, Hikari no Senritsu... Those songs sound very magical for me. FictionJunction, when I'm talking about this group, I'm referring to their solo works, like the latest one, elemental album, not their concerts, which they usually cover most of Kajiura soundtrack works. They don't sound like magical, like I mentioned above, but more versatile becasuse, how do I say? It's just like that when I listen to their songs. Like, I can't imagine Kalafina singing elemental or Gaika. But yeah, like Chiharo said, to the beginning sounds like FJ, to be honest, I think it's a mere copy of Toki no Mukou Maboroshi no Sora by FJ, the chorus, lol. And then we got heavenly blue, misterioso (almost but still Kalafina-ish for me) now ring your bell, I'm kinda sad actually. Do you guys watch their concerts? I think you can differentiate easier from it.

I'm enjoying what everybody else has written on this page, very interesting things.
For me, prior to their fourth album, the only way I could tell the difference between FJ and Kalafina was Kalafina was...darker and magical, less poppy in some ways, heavier in sound. FJ was more varied and got you moving, especially during concerts, also tended to be more rock focused. Now the only way I can tell between the two is Kalafina's B-sides sound more like the older sounds, and KJ now tends to use Kaori more often. |
