I personally think the campaign is cool. It's not about erasing the past or something, but they are trying to create a bigger impact that she already had. And even about the "it doesn't matter because it's not the first week", I think this is even better. It's never too late.

Why would one be against this campaign? It's not like the fans are building a time machine and CORRECTING HISTORY, this is not a revisionist movement, people lmao

Personally I think it's fu**ing cool that her fans are doing that. So instead of entering history as "the one single that didn't make it to the top 10" ALARM is going to be remembered as the single that didn't enter the top 10 when it was released, but when Namie announced her retirement, fans joined forces and gave this as a present to her immaculate discography and sales/rankings (and let's face it: if there's ANY Namie's single that don't deserve to be in the top10, this definitely isn't ALARM!)

PS: I don't understand why the commotion about bringing Koda into the discussion. The user clearly is a big Koda fan, it was just a comparison. A fair one, btw. If a campaign like this was to be done to bring BoA's not-top10 singles to the top10 I'd be definitely in lmao.

It makes no difference if it's in the first week or not. It would just need to enter the top 10 at any period since being released to be counted as a top 10 single.

If there was another artist and they were really close in some sort of sales record, then a technicality like first week would come into play.

Oricon has lost all my respect tbqh, so this sort of stunt doesn't bother me in the slightest. I do think that it might not make it though... unless weekend sales are able to edge out the other singles...

It's not really rewriting history either
It's just adding to it

The first charting will still be recorded, it will just have a second chart life.

I think its a great idea wether it have success or not. And is not like they are trying with all her singles lol.

I actually find it amazing how this single reentered in the top 10 many years later, even if is just for a day.

I can't believe the ALARM campaign has become controversial.
It's not erasing history. ALARM will always have it's original charting recorded. If it enters the top 10 again it doesn't change the original release. It will be known as the single that did not chart in the top 10 at the time of it's release but did enter the top 10 during Namie's retirement era thanks to the fans coming together to support her and show their love.
If it ends up being successful it will be a pretty impressive feat. It's not easy to get everyone to come together for a cause.

The fact that the ALARM campaign is initiated by Namie's fans and also supported by the respective CD stores within Japan , I think that says a lot on how much Namie is meant to a lot of people

If this was something that avex initiated , I would be annoyed as it's an obvious blatant way for them to earn more $ which in this case it's true to a certain extent

Not to mention , fans in other fandoms also did something similar like this . Before SMAP officially disbanded , fans were buying Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana in bulk in hoping that the news wasn't true & just rumours but sadly that wasn't the case

If Namie's fans want to participate and help ALARM , I don't see what's the problem about it . They're the ones spending $ to buy the single in trying their best to get it chart in the Top 10 in Oricon , not me

And I also think it's downright ridiculous to drag Kuu in the picture where she has nothing to do with this . Really , end of the day it tends to be the respective artistes' fans that have problems with each other , not the artistes themselves and that's so childish

Not to change the conversation actually that's exactly what I want to do but I think the FEEL tour was her best tour. I'm rewatching it right now and from beginning to end she just looks like she's having so. much. freaking. fun. Especially during the Hands On Me and Supernatural Love performances. I mean, I know we know nothing about her final tour so I guess I shouldn't say her 'best' but it certainly is my favorite by miles. I love every single freaking thing about it from the costumes to the setlist to the stage to the audience interactions.

God, I wish I could've seen her live before she retires just to be a part of that energy for a bit.

What's y'all's favorite tour?

Oh, people, it's just a personal opinion!
I know, that officially it can still reach a TOP 10 position with that.
It charted like it charted back then though, but in Namie's listing of her discography you then just see, how it has done altogether (the singles peak position over all and so on). You have to look further into it to see, that it charted again. With a campaign.
That's how it feels like "correcting" history to me. That's why I used quotation marks.
I personally don't like campaigns like that, no matter the artist (though I do like the fandom behind it).
Guess, I'm mad and crazy!

(btw. SMAP's Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana did chart at #5 at the start of this week)

My favourite tour still is her 2010 PAST<FUTURE Tour.
Man, I love that part of her career.

OMFG yes. Everything about that tour was freaking amazing...and the remixes she did to Wild & Do Me More were so on point.

yep the remixes were great. So CRAZY Tour is still my favorite though - even if the recorded sound is not as clear.

It depends on how much the other singles around it went down. Its not the position that counts, but the totals sales of everything around it. I guess it will make sharo 10

Best Fiction tour, I mean the fact that Alarm and So Crazy were revamped made them that much more epic! That entire concert was PURE entertainment. From the stage set-ups, to the setlist, the outfits, and not to mention a live band. I miss the days when she would have a live band play the music rather than hearing a back track...either way like I said Best Fiction tour has to be my favorite. Especially when she flubbed during Wishing On The Same Star and that cute little mistake in White Light.

I agree about the Feel tour. Namie's tours are quite hit and miss for me (and I'm a huge fan). It's odd because there are some years that are just amazing both energy and choreography wise and then other years where it has felt phoned in. I agree Feel is one of her best. Also, ones that come immediately to mind are Live Style 2011, So Crazy 2003-2004, and the Genic tour.

My favourite tour might be Live Style 2011 just for WAF, No, and Top Secret. Those performances still give me chills.

Yep. They were amazing. And then the string of performances just before the encore ending with Unusual, the choreography was insane, especially for so late in the concert.

I saw on Facebook that there's an hour long interview out now or coming? I didn't understand much about it except that she was crying.
