I think I like D8 more than AND - it is not really a remix album to me, but rather alternative versions.

Thanks for the links provided guys. You rock!
Here is a pic of Kuu and Kenji on KP's Witness tour A pity they didn't have the opportunity to take a picture with Katy herself like they did back in 2013

I like DH8 a lot more than DH7 overall. Like, there are two or three songs on DH7 that I love, but overall its just okay. DH8 I like basically every song.

Speaking of remixes, how come am I only noticing ''Wicked Girls" (Daddy's Groove Remix) now?! THAT REMIX IS FIRE.

Decided to listen to DH8 and the PARTY remix is INSANE! I love it! Too bad the rest of the album is meh. Listening to DH8 made me go listen to AND again and it’s grown on me somewhat. Still can’t really digest her singing style though.

Sad to see DH not doing well. Debuted at #27 first day on Oricon and then into the 40s second day. This will be her first DH album not to debut in the Top 20. I don't understand what happened to the fans this year. It's not like W FACE was a smash or anything but I was hoping for smaller yearly drops now since the majority of the general public has left her and its only the fans supporting...

As for the remix album, you seriously weren't expecting a top 20 debut when DH7 barely made it. I say this in the nicest possible way. You're a bit spoiled. Spoiled in the sense that Koda during her starlet days (2005 to 2009) was a juggernaut. Koda hasn't been a starlet since TRICK and we are quickly approaching the 10th anniversary of that release. I'm not sure what you're expecting from a female J-Pop artist pushing 20 years in the business dominated by idol fever. |

It's an overall phenomenon in the Japanese music market with some few exceptions (idols and male solos/bands mainly). Apart from Namie and Finally I don't know any female solo actually rising in sales.
People don't really spend money on music, more on going to concerts and buying merchandise, if at all. I've even just read a comment on Kuu's fan corner on fb, that a fan wants to buy DH's 8, but doesn't have the money for that. Plus remix albums never did too well. Kuu's first bunch was an exception, cause they were new for her probably (and Beach Mix cause there wasn't a single or album from her at that time).

I would say Kuu was a starlet from 2005 to 2012 as she was still appearing on Kouhaku, MSSL, and was very much in the public eye with the majority of sales still coming outside her main fanbase. It all sort of came crashing down in 2013 when she completely ditched (or was dumped, either side can be argued) her prime-time TV show slots at MS and the year-end shows. All I would like to see is Kuu staying around the 20k (15k at the very least) mark for albums so we can still get decent MVs like LIT every now and then.

As Corvina said, post-Kana I can't think of any female soloist to breakthrough in a major way. The industry no longer supports the soloist business model. Even an icon like Ken Hirai has had trouble breaking a certain sales level. Real talk. After Koda's 20th anniversary, she is going to start missing the top 10 on the album chart consistently. In other words, enjoy these top 10 albums while they last. |

Let's not get too carried away lol. If Seiko Matsuda can land all her studio albums since 2010 into the Top 10 (mostly Top 5) then I think Kuu can certainly continue to rank in the Top 10 for quite some time as well.
