I actually feel that natalaxie may be right. Maybe Ayu feels that she shouldn't qualify because she's already won so many times before. Stepping down to let other people have a chance. If that's the case, then this is a very noble act. If it's because she's not confident in her songs, well... She shouldn't worry. She is the best, after all.

I'm interested in atranslation of this aticle as well, cause we all could be dead wrong.
