Mine are:

Goldfrapp - Black Cherry.
Theres so many good songs on here. My faves are Black cherry, Twist, Train and Strict machine.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell.
I never really listened to rock before I'd heard their stuff so it's left me a lil more open to it. The best songs are Pin, Maps (its so nice), Date with the night and Bang.

I can't think of a third at the mo I might add one later.

Goldfrapp is amazing... i love their 1st album, "Felt Mountain", it's a more "calmed" album, more trip-hop, and not very electronic as "Black Cherry"... i haven't heard the entire BC album, but i didn't like "Strict Machine"... '_';; well, the Benny Benassi remix is really cool...

I'd recommend:
Start - Sun Yan Zi

Unbelieveble - Wang Li Hong

A Beautiful Episode - Elva Hsiao

It's actually 'Bump of chicken'...but still weird nonetheless.

I'll list mine once I have time to upload samples, one of them is a fan of Shiina Ringo.

For Akatsuki, a couple of Bad Religion MP3s and album recommendations!

Suffer, 1988

Best for you (1.8M)
Do what you want (1.0M)

Suffer is a pretty old album. Bad Religion had released two albums prior to this, one a punkrock album, and one a new wave album. They split up after having released the new wave one, and later reunited to make Suffer. It's a classic punkrock album, great songs, and very punk altogether.

No Control, 1989

I want to conquer the world (2.1M)
The world won't stop (1.8M)

No Control is the follow-up to Suffer, and showcases a similar sound. However, Bad Religion has developed - more melody, while still undeniably punkrock. Brilliant album, one of my personal favorites.

Against The Grain, 1990

Anesthesia (2.7M)
Modern man (1.7M)

Against The Grain again had a more developed sound, with some brilliant songs that combined both melody and fury. Simply awesome, recommended if you like No Control and Suffer as well.

Generator, 1992

Atomic garden (2.9M)
Too much to ask (2.5M)

Generator is on the whole a tad slower than the previous albums. It was the first album with Bobby Schayer on drums (replacing Pete Finestone), which probably influenced the sound a lot. Altogether a decent album.

Stranger Than Fiction, 1994

Infected (3.8M)
Stranger than fiction (2.1M)

Stranger Than Fiction is generally an album that follows the sound of Generator (a tad slower), but its sound is more developed and the album is better than Generator as a whole. Very nice.

The New America, 2000

A world without melody (2.3M)
You've got a chance (3.4M)

The New America was produced by Todd Rungren - it's hard to call it punkrock (although some songs are still pretty up-tempo), which is why it got a lot of bad critics. Not deserved though, this album is one of my favorites - really brilliant songs on here, definitely worth picking up.

The Process Of Belief, 2002

Epiphany (3.7M)
Materialist (1.7M)

The Process Of Belief is a return to the old punkrock-roots - a lot of fast-paced songs (and a new drummer), but, as ever, still melodic. A more than decent release.

Of course, Bad Religion released some more albums, but these I'd call my favorites and are definitely worth seeking out. Enjoy!

~ Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

A mixture of Pop, R&B and a little bit of rap too. Great and creative lyrics, some catchy songs, great voice. It's a very good album.

~ Gwen Stefani - Love Angel Music Baby

It was already mentioned. Wonderful!

~ Björk - Medülla

Probably everybody heard about this one. Although the songs are very strange, they're all masterpieces <3 bizarre and magic *-*

Hi. Can I have "The Alchemist" by Russel Watson sent to my e-mail? Thank you.

01. Gwen Stefani - Love, Angel, Music, Baby.
Got this one fro Christmas and I have to say it is an amazing album! Gwen Stefani rawks in both No Doubt and her solo career...alot of the songs are actually really amusing and they all have a fantastic beat.

02. Russel Watson - Amore Musica
You have to be into classical to enjoy this I think...Russel's voice is outstanding and the duet with the beautiful voice that is Lara Fabian 'The Alchemist' is one of my favourite songs of last year!

03. Delta Goodrem - Mistaken Identity
Well after coming back onto the music scene after being diagnosed with cancer this album is pretty...depressing...but is much better than her first album 'Innocent Eyes'. The melody's are beautiful and Delta's vocals are as equally beautiful.

----
Asian

01. Fly to the Sky - Gravity
My favourite album of this year from the amazing K-Pop duo I definately recommend this album to anyone who has not yet listened to K-Pop...listen to the title track 'Gravity' and you'll soon be wanting more of their amazing voices. =P

02. Ai Otsuka - LOVE JAM
I didn't like Ai much in her LOVE PUNCH period...but after hearing Kingyo Hanabi and Daisuki da yo I fell in love with her soft, child like vocals and this album is definately a masterpiece!

03. Lena Park - Op.4
She probably is the greatest korean vocalist of all time...her songs are superb! [Going to upload probably the entire album.] the title track 'Plastic Flower' is the perfect opening/ending theme to a horror..something like The Grudge. lol. and the second track is an outstanding power ballad which makes me all goosebumpy. Highly reccomended album...and if you like what you hear from this album...try out her live album. *Nod.*

In any case, I personally love looking for new stuff, and I love getting recommendations as well - since when one searches him- or herself, he or she often doesn't stray far away from what he or she generally likes already. That applies/applied for me as well (not as much any longer, but still quite a bit I think - a habit hard to shake). Therefore, this thread.

What to do? Recommend three albums you love we should all listen to. I'm sure everyone has a couple of albums he or she loves to death - so, by all means, tell us about them! It'd be particularly nice to see some of the more unknown bands and artists to pop up here, but of course you could recommend Hikki, BoA, or even Ayu as well!

Without further ado, here's my three recommendations to begin with!

Envy - All The Footprints You've Ever Left And The Fear Expecting Ahead (Japan)
2003

Envy is a Japanese band that brilliantly blends post-rock, emo, screamo, and hardcore - absolutely astonishing! Everything about this band is intense, from the guitarwork and the rhythm-section to the vocals and the melodies. If I had to describe Envy in three words, those words would be 'intense', 'emotional', and 'genius'. Recommended to those who can appreciate it.

Why I chose this album: Envy is one of the most brilliant bands ever to have roamed this planet. I personally find that their music represents sheer emotion - so incredibly touching and intense.

Envy - A cage it falls into (8.5 Mb)

Explosions In The Sky - Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever (USA)
2003

Explosions In The Sky hail from Austin, Texas. Their music is probably the best sonical representation of Texas you'll ever hear - dusty, yet vibrant, moody, yet romantic, and at all times, alive. Their instrumental songs do never get boring (mind, the song I uploaded has some whispering but no actual vocals) - it's always real, it's always something that sounds familiar, like life, like love - Explosions In The Sky are nothing short of brilliance.

Why I chose this album: Explosions In The Sky know what life is - whenever I hear their music, I realise how beautiful life is again.

Explosions In The Sky - Have you passed through this night? (6.7M)

Mono - Walking Cloud And Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered And The Sun Shined
2004 (Japan)

Mono consists of three guys and a girl, and their music is somewhat comparable to that of Explosions In The Sky. However, Mono has a somewhat different instrumentation - on this particular album they even lean towards classical music at moments. Their songs are long, but beautiful to say the least. An absolute masterpiece.

Why I chose this album: Somewhat similar to reasons I mentioned for Explosions In The Sky and Envy - this is what life is.

Mono - Lost snow (20.9 Mb)
even though the links are dead... (old thread)

I loooove explosions in teh sky! and that mono album is AMAZING!!!!

I havent head envy yet but when i get a chance I will.

Some of my favorite eccentric hip-hop from 2004.

The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
New album... and a "concept" album to boot. The whole album is one continuous story... a freaking masterpiece.
Sample: The Streets - DRY YOUR EYES.mp3

I LOVE THE STREETS!!! It's... amazing.

Brother in Arms by Dire Straits. The title song is amazingly melancholic and beautiful talking about the war and such. The arrangements are great, with the whole storm sound. The "MTV advertising song", Money is for nothing, has got pretty awesome guitars. It's true that it gets a bit annoying that there's too much MTV promotion in the song but I don't really care, it sounds great. Walk of life is one of the catchiest 80's songs produced, never got and never will get tired of that song. Latest Trick is a really beautiful classic ballad, that sax play is classic. I love hopw in most of their songs they have pretty long instrumental solos, it makes the song rather unique.

I'm gonna throw in some new recommendations here.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - amazing album. Those who seek out refreshing indie rock should make sure to give this one a try.
Recommended song: The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth

The Jesus & Mary Chain - Psycho Candy - a golden oldie. Been playing it a lot lately, it's astonishing.
Recommended song: Just Like Honey

Orange Juice - You Can't Hide Your Love Forever - a little bit older as well. Astounding rock album.
Recommended song: Dying Day

KOTOKO - Hane (2004, Japan)

i <3 this album, i think its her best album ^___^
KOTOKO sings in in the group I've.. they make music for h games...
hm she also sung Second Flight together with hiromi satou (hope i spell it right), the opening from Onegai Twins, to bad the song isnt on the album...
ohwell, go download! =D

Yuki Kajiura - Fiction (2003, Japan)

This album contains beautiful songs composed by yuki kajura herself, it's her first solo-album.
You may know Yuki Kajiura from the j-pop group See-Saw.
Yuki Kajiura does a lot of anime theme's and OST's, some examples are the .Hack// series and Noir...

I know my writing style is very crappy and that my english sucks but i just wanted to tell u guys how good these 3 albums are ^__^
Darn.. I was just about to recommende both KOTOKO and Rin'. All Rin' albums are great, except the cristmas one. The new KOTOKO album is also great. Re-Sublimity was such a cool song, I loved it. One of my favorties from last year.

Well, I have one more recommendation and it will be

Hitomi Shimatani - Delicious

Her best album. It's really good, lots of nice pop songs.

Let's see..

Akeboshi - Akeboshi
When I first watched Naruto and heard the ending song, Wind, I wanted to know more about the artist. I had no trouble finding Wind, but other Akeboshi songs are a bit harder to find. Akeboshi has released two minialbums and one album, his debut album. It contains all the songs from the mini albums and a couple of new songs. I still don't have the complete album, but if you can get your hands on it, you really should listen to it. It's amazing.

L'arc en ciel - Tierra
Tierra is L'arc en Ciel's second album, and even though they've released a lot of albums after Tierra, I think it's still one of their best CDs. Every song is breathtaking, in it's own way. If you're familiar with L'arc en Ciel's latest songs, you should definitely listen to Tierra. If you don't know L'arc en ciel, you should listen to it anyway.

Gackt - Love letter
There are only ten songs on this album, but every song is beautiful. My favourite is Arittake no Ai de, it's a great song to sing along to. If you like ballads, you should definitely listen to this album.

i've heard of them...i may have to check them out sometime.

i reccomend:

M.I.A. - Arular
M.I.A. is amazing. i don't know how to describe it but she creates music with a great mix of hip-hop...tribal...almost punkishness. plus, she carries an extremly political message. i definitely recommend it.

Le Tigre - This Island
Le Tigre too is amazing i think. i don't really know how to describe them either...i suppose they are simiar to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, only they've been around longer (i think) and are more experimental.

i'm not sure of a third one at the moment...sorry.

1 - Mariah Carey -- Butterfly

Mariah is an undeniably talented singer, arguably the most talented of our time. I've loved her for most of my life, and after I met her, I only loved her even more. This is my favorite of all of her albums...it's a lot of mid-tempo songs, which I normally don't like a whole album to be comprised of, but they're all amazing. It is the only album other than Ayu's "I Am..." that I can listen to straight through without skipping anything (except sometimes I skip the butterfly fly away reprise because it bores me a little).

2 - Alanis Morissette -- MTV Unplugged

In this album, Alanis really strips down some of her hits from the Jagged Little Pill & Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie eras. She has some wonderful songs, including a GREAT cover of "king of pain" which is a song originally done by Sting (or was it the police?). Regardless, a very beautiful album.

3 - Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

I miss her...I heard she's working on another album, which makes me very happy. I also heard that the Fugees are working on another album, which also makes me very happy. I miss them too. This is a phenomenal album. She has good lyrics and a soulful voice. Definitely worth a listen, even if not every song is amazing.
