Well, she didn't really gave it to Britney. Madonna is STILL the pop queen.

Ayumi is whatever you want her to be, i mean I’m not even sure if she’s the "queen" since utada is/was one of those that start the "boom"...& there’s the other chick...i still prefer Ayu but there’s people that love utada or Namie? So yeah it varies in your OWN likes, it's not like you'll go and change everyone's mind...
Namie and Utada are both R&B singers. There are not pop singers.

As long as we have her music nothing matters.. tastes change with time. However for me Ayumi will always be special.

it shouldn't really matter who officially has the title of "jpop queen" or whatever. as long as you still love Ayu, just know that she's the best to you.

Besides, if this is talking about that one thread with them taking ayu down from FASHION queen, then u dont really have to worry. Its just fashion, didn't say anything about music.

I'm sorry, but Madonna DID pass the torch to Britney. And if I could find the article that said as much, I would post it, but I can't right now. In any case, it doesn't matter. Many people still regard Madonna as the queen of pop, just like many people still regard Namie as the queen of jpop. If you still like their music enough that you feel that they're the queen of whatever, then that's the way it will be in your mind and in your heart. Being the queen of something is largely symbolic, it's not anything 'official'.

But when our dear Ayu does decide to step aside, I believe that Mika Nakashima will be the one to pick up where she left off. But that's just my two cents
