hmmm I think there may be Japanese goverment records on this data (women who still work after marriage as oppose to stop)
Should be still working I think, even the economic realities demands it. |

But she has not even reach 30 >_> anyway ayu didn't directly say 'I WANT TO RETIRE' did she? I think I will only believe if ayu had said it herself. The article topic is just the reporter's assumption >_> don't want to make myself worry too much

I don't think she is going to retire. I really hope she doesn't. She isn't that old, and she's still going on. That is just a rumour and I don't believe it.

erm... what was i about to say? i plain forgot about it till i reached the quick reply box... i think the reporters should hav studied more ayu info b4 they jump to such conclusions and i honestly feel that if ayu wanted to quit she would hav done it in a glam way. if 7 years is a toll on the soul, i will suggest that she take a one yr break jus like stefanie sun did... stefanie sun took a one yr break but no one forgot about her and her career's getting bigger than ever~

There are still a lot of women that will want to marry and give up their jobs. But then again, there are a lot of women that want careers and refuse to settle down when they're husband wants them to. It must take a very understanding man to do that. There is this traditional thing even in America that the man has to take the role of the provider.

But as I said before, I can never see Ayu just quietly settling down, even though that is what is expected of women in Japan.

Hmph... well- I won't believe it until it's made official... but still- if Ayu needs the break, I don't think the fans should put too much of a battle up. We love her very much so we should understand. *nods*

-_- since when have we been able to trust a HK tabloid? All the stuff they say about new albums/singles, her going to bars and getting drunk etc have proven false, what makes this one different? -___-
Ayu's rolemodel is Madonna and she's in her 40's, i imagine Ayu would do the same but i guess in a way that's not really sturdy enough to rely on. Lots of people have made good points-- other artists have been married and continued; ayu wouldnt really seem like much of a competitor if she just up and quit because she got married. She hasn't reached 30 yet, etc. As said by others: wont believe it til Avex/Ayu say so. |

kristen -- that's true about Madonna. Madonna is still famous, but just doesn't release albums that often. When she does, they sell like hot cakes. And I think Ayu will do the same as well

The speculation is also in the Japanese media. I have read three articles concerning the MY STORY tour and speculations on her ensuing retirement. It's not just the Chinese news industry.
That said, as you have all pointed out, she does this every tour. However, her move to put down the microphone is one that was used by Momoe Yamaguchi on the eve of her retirement concert. Thus, they are paralleling this move with Ayu's move. Also, the way she cried at the concert (not the fact that she DID cry, but the WAY that she cried) has been talked about as the sorrow of one leaving her fans. We'll have to see. I don't see it happening.

I really hope these are just rumors about ayu retiring. but if it's true, it's been a good 7 years.

Thank you for the translation. I really don't believe anything before I hear it from Ayu herself. It's not the first time these rumours have been told. I don't think she would retire, her career has just begun, she's going to stay here for a long time, I think ( And I hope ). She has just released a new single, I don't see the end of her career coming this soon. Her single is right at the moments the most sold single in the world.
