[tabloid] AYU VS AMI

A news in a Chinese newspaper reported tat Ayumi is losing her place as Queen in Avex( i know theres tonnes of reports on tat but this is different) & avex is now focusing on SUZUKI AMI & trying to promote her to replace ayumi... ayu & ami have always been rivals...

I totalli agree tat Avex now lose focuz on ayumi...as u can see from her works n promotion wise.... but as for suzuki ami... i dun realli like her... she is not very versatile... her voice too is very fixed... her songs r more towards dance type... so i guess Ai Otsuka may stand a better chance instead...although i dun like ai too...hahaha btw it was a horrible thing for avex president, MAX (so call ayumi's close fren...)to do to sign up AMI when he knows shes a rival of ayu...

avex is always replacing ayu with this or that person...it was boa, then it was ai otsuka, then it was that beni girl, and now suzuki ami? tabloids need to come up with new stories, these are getting boring.

avex does not put out the music their artists make because they love you or their artists. they do it because they love your money =D

avex is certainly investing in Ami but I doubt they're looking to replace her. Like in all these cases, it probably won't happen for a long time. Of course, avex wouldn't mind at all if a bunch of their artists started selling more than Ayu so they put more money in the ones that have a chance in that. Like Ai.

I think Ami has been gone too long...look at Namie. She's nothing compared to what she used to be, and her "come-back" was over 2 years ago now. It's hard for someone from the "idol-era" to re-invent themself successfully. So in that respect, I don't think Ami is any competition for Ayu. Plus, have you seen how many tie ins Ayu's new single has? They're definitely still promoting her.

Doesn't this thread goes to Ayumi-Chat section?

Anyway. AVEX will always try to replace Ayu even though she's the one who helped them through their tough times. Even though she's the one who used to make 43% of their sales. Even though she's one of the artists who sales the most in the company. Yes, maybe she doesn't have that much % these days, but she's still the j-pop queen, and always be. Can you imagine BoA, or even Ai taking her place? Well, I can't. Simply because they are just not as big as Ayu.

As for Suzuki Ami, I don't know since when they are rivals. But Ayu definitely beats her.

If memory serves correctly, they both debuted around the same time. It was a media-based rivalry, just like the Ayu-Hikki rivalry. Ami Suzuki was extremely successful when she debuted, but lost momentum...whereas Ayu started out with a good debut, but didn't peak until her 3rd-4th album.

But like I said before, I think Ami is a thing of the past.

Well, Ami Suzuki was extremely popular in the 1998 days---I heard that few of her singles sold over a million copies. Her album sold about 3 million copies. Then somehow, she lost her popularity because SONY disowned her due to the fact that her mother was sueing the company for unfair payments. And now she's back and she seem to be pretty good in terms of sales, but isn't as near as Ayu's sales just yet. Her last single sold about 100,000 copies i think.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!!! Seriously, have a look to the Ami's numbers in ORICON. You will probably laugh a little bit ^^ As far as I'm concerned, she is very very very very very far to replace Ayu. Why are tabloids always trying to publish negative news about Ayu ??

Her last single sold about 100,000 copies i think.
Ami Suzuki : 30 500 copies sold
2 weeks in the ORICON chart
highest rank : 9th

Conclusion : Soooo far from Ayumi's usual scores ^^

When dod they do that? Because I've never seem it. avex tried to replace ayu with those other artists? did they fire ayu or stopped releasing ayu related stuff? Why do people think avex wants to replace ayu just because they also promote other artists like ai otsuka, namie and BoA, and such artists rise on sales at certain periods? (c'mon avex will not self center on ayu only, if they did that: 1 - ppl would say avex is evil because they milk ayu to death 2 - avex would be dumb for relying on 1 artist only). That makes absolutely no sense. All those artists are $$$$ worth for avex, whatever they can promote and sell doesn't mean they are replacing one artist or the other. ayu still does still get heavy promotion from avex in fact.
Why do people strain so much their neurones trying to find an excuse to say avex hates ayu? If avex wants to replace ayu SO MUCH and she is still on avex then people are either implying that ayu is dumb or she is a masochist

I thought so lol

And anyway, what is this tabloid talking about? I don't remember that Avex has never released a cover so early about a single.. I think they are still promoting Ayu and focusing on her to make a lot of money.

I'm pretty sure they did, but it's been years. I mean I remember even back when Free & Easy, }{, and Voyage came out...I had copies of all those songs MONTHS before the single release date. Everything since that year has slowed down a lot, however...I think that's what it mostly comes down to. Before I think she just recorded things and prepared for things way in advance so that she could have her crazy release schedule.
