Annie

Anyone else here into Annie? I only just recently really heard her stuff, but loved it right away. The album you should look for is Anniemal, from 2004 - brilliant stuff. It's hard to pick out the best tracks, as it's indeed a very strong album from start to finish. What's more, it's pop music with electro influences and indie cred! So even if you normally feel too hipster to listen to pop music, well, here's Annie, haha. Plus, her music's just excellent and worth hearing ánd she's pretty hot ánd from Norway (how is that not cool?).

I can only encourage you to download/buy/whatever her music and hear it - you may just enjoy it a whole lot.

And of course, regular Annie discussion may also go here.

Annie sporting a DFA1979 shirt - how indie do you want your popstar to be?

Her music is definitely pop, although there are electro influences aplenty (if I remember correctly, she frequently collaborates with Röyksopp, for instance), so while it doesn't sound like indie rock, it does feel indie, haha. This review from Pitchfork sums it up pretty well. Indie pop, I guess, lol.

I've seen plenty of her video's on my MTV ( MTV Northern Europe) and her songs get a lot of airplay on the radio here. I like 'Chewing Gum' and 'Heartbeat' (the music vid for it is also shot in Helsinki , capital city of my country ). She's definitely one of my favorite artists in the nordic mainstream pop scene , which is mostly dominated by really cheesy swedish pop or gloomy rockish music from my country ...

Heartbeat has been getting some airplay here as well (though still not a lot), which is very refreshing - just like in the Nordic area, our music scene is pretty much horrible. Middle-of-the-road rockbands are dominating. Buh.
