Public J-Pop Singin?

I just got myself to sang Namie's ALL FOR YOU today...the teacher was taking marks at the Arts lesson....and we have to sing in a group....

as I found no one who interested in the same genre of mine...(well there's three students in my class who is into J-Music...one is already singin in a group with other students, one loves J-Rock and goin' to sing GLAY and I hate J-Rock, and the last one is me, I love slow songs basically and none of them into such slow ballads)
so since it's only me who loves and knows Namie Amuro....so I can do nothing but do everything SOLO! gosh...I was totally nervous!!! as ppl cheered at me when they found out tat I'm goin solo! Well, the truth is, most students in my class can't sing well, so they have to form a group to make the song sounds much better (well, group singin is much easier...coz' you don't have to sing much here)

a friend of mine who will sing Glay's song is just after me...(we're the last person in the order) so no one gets to sing solo because all of them has formed their own group while both of us decided not to go on a group...coz' we can't sing if it's not J-Music...

and ah well...I start the first verse and my voice is not in a good condition so I use lower note....(the chorus is in higher note, so I will not reach it if I don't start the verse with the higher note...you know wat I mean...well, I have the guy's voice...:lol
and they were really like crazy to see me sing J-music!
some are amazed, some are amused and tease me (acting like a crazy fangirls in a live concert... seriously I almost sing badly in some verses because of them...we'll I'm not mad at them...coz' they makes me less nervous by making me in the condition of "almost-laughing"...)

and you know what, THAT MOMENTS WAS MY LONGEST 5 MINUTES EVER! YES! I'm singin the WHOLE SONGS!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD XD XD luckily I got Namie's voice to backed me up coz I played the song when I sing it...and it worked!!

and I got 2 students out of 24 who asked me for the ALL FOR YOU mp3... they don't dislike J-music actually, instead they started to like it...
the others are quite impressed and some of them don't actually care....

so that's my experience in singin J-Music publicly...
well..how bout you? what does they say about the song? how do they reacts? and any of them got into J-music when you sang it?
how do you feel to sing such songs? (assuming most ppl in the community you're at are not actually into J-music)

i once sang for an International Festival at my school in Chinese...but it was a sad song, and not many people understood it so...
i have said this before, but once, my church members and my family were going on this trip, and there was a microphone in the bus for people to just come up and talk, say jokes, or sing. My mother pressured me to go up and sing in Japanese, since none of the people have heard that. Finally, i went up and sang Utada's Colors (i was also sick by the way) and somewhat was able to sing the high pitches. Everyone was surprised and they liked it a lot! ^_^
My aunt said it was a beautiful song even though she didn't understand any of it.
I also attempted to sing Ayu's Appears, but halfway, i forgot the next line and had to stop. (whenever i sing, the next line just comes to me automatically, but not this time). That was embarrassing for me, but no one noticed.

Me and my friends used to sing in the school cafetaria. I bring the lyrics. LOL. And we would sing out loud. We were crazy, but it was really fun.

I sang a bunch of J-pop songs for my vocal class a couple years ago...lets see what I can remember....

Toki no Hourousha (ok...so it's from FF..but its still in Japanese)
PURACHINA by Maaya Sakamoto
Yubiwa by Maaya Sakamoto

and a bunch of other Maaya Sakamoto/Bonnie Pink things....my voice isn't too far off from theirs so the songs were easy for me to sing.

Actually...when I first sang PURACHINA everyone in my class went mental wanting to see the lyrics and hear it again and ask me all about everything Japanese I could tell them. It was kinda crazy o_O

This year I fully intened to nail Utada Hikaru's Passion for my class.

Yeah, I hope to do it sometime soon. Maybe find a J-rock band or something.

I hope to do Gackt's songs by the way.

I sang Ayu's HEAVEN, Voyage, teddy bear, and M to a group before, but with my own english lyrics. ^__^ I was so happy, b/c I'm super self-conscious about my voice and they said that they liked it! I'm glad I did it.

I sang Orange Range's Hana in karaoke once in front of some friends, and they didn't like it cuz there was too much rap and they couldn't understand a word, they said I sounded like a monk chanting. XD
