CORE OF SOUL to disband (March 24)

CORE OF SOUL has stated on their official website the band will officially disband on March 24, after the last part of their Asian tour. Their last performance will be in the band's hometown of Osaka. Since their debut in 2001, the band has made some great songs for their fans. We wish them luck in the future!

From Staff, Fukko, Song Rui & Keisuke:

Thank you for supporting COS. COS has decided to break up after the final performance in Osaka on March 24th. Since our debut on May 16, 2001, there were a lot of meetings through our musical activity. We're thankful from the bottom of our heart that we could keep our music activities until now, supported by your smiles and cheers.
All the members & staff COS couldn't have existed until today without your support. We would like to keep living on the happiness we shared with you.
We would like a lot of people to listen to ONE LOVE, ONE LIFE, ONE DAY, and we'll work on the tour to give you our best effort and music.
The tour will be in 3 cities outside of Japan, people might come from far away, but we'd be so happy if you could make it to our concert.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our heart for supporting COS for five years.

From Fukko: (sorry my friend didn't translate the whole thing... But then as it got emotional and cute she started translating everything again... )

We always could make it because it was the three of us. During five years, we were sometimes lost, but we could make it up altogether.
It took us one year to think about ONE LOVE.
It took us 2 years to think about ONE DAY, then the last year it was all about ONE LIFE, which made me reflect on my own life.
I want to make this tour unforgivable, to make all of you smile, and if you wonder if I will smile sincerly, I'd answer that I'll smile heartily!
I will keep my activities as a singer and musician.
With Love.

From Song Rui:

We talked about COS after completing this album. We're satisfied with what it became, but if we want to improve, we thought we'd have to go our separate ways to grow mature musically and technically. The three of us came to conclusion that now is the good time for a new beginning.
Through COS, I've met so many people, and been moved by so many things, THAT was our motivation to make our music. Our music became suche a treasure, by sharing our works with you.
We still have the Best Of, the DVD and the tour. I'd like to do my best to bring the music to your hears and to your sight, and I'd like to create happy times filled with music with you all.
With my best thankfulness and respect to the passion you gave to COS. Keep on Rocking Forever!

message from Keisuke:

I'd like to thank each of you for supporting us for five years. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. It took three years to complete the album 3. Last year (Dec. 2005), when we completed the album ONE LOVE, ONE DAY, ONE LIFE, I thought we came to a completion of COS. Today, each of us has grown up as an artist and as a person, and we've improved. That's what I thought.
For me it is more like a graduation (he uses the term sotsugyio) than a break up. The three of us still have the passion to keep going on with music. As a band, we're breaking up, but it doesn't mean that the three of us are not going to make music anymore altogether. If fate allows it. I am looking forward to this time and I think that music is an energy that can overcome time, generations and borders.
I'm so proud that we could meet you through this music. Thank you very much!
Yoroshiku.
Seriously..where are all these great acoustic/pop/rock sounding bands going? There aren't many left at all..COS was easily my favorite band, and they will be missed terribly. I wonder who will be the next to follow in their footsteps.

That's so sad.
Why all the disbanding lately?
Who will fill in all the gaps?
When ELT and globe disband the world will end.

But then again, you've got to disband sooner or later. -.-

The List:
-Do As Infinity
-ZONE
-day after tomorrow
-JUDY AND MARY
-fra foa
-Others...o_o;

I've said this for the third time in forums, but I'm heartbroken!

I've been revisiting their songs so much from yesterday onwards, they too are easily my favourite Japanese band.

After reading what Keisuke said about "It's more like a graduation", listening to Fukiko sing "We're graduating~~~" in 'The Spirit of This Place' has become such a tear-jerker.

When I read that I thought that they should perform The Spirit of This Place as their last song.

Oh man...this is so sad.....I'm not sure what to make of it....
I do hope that they'll all be able to grow as musicians and artists, and hopefully one day return for one more go!

CORE OF SOUL - You will be greatly missed.

That reminds me that I need to buy their first album. .-.

'The Spirit of This Place' is the perfect graduation song. I wish it could play at my high school graduation, but it probably has to be English. Losers.

Let's talk about CORE OF SOUL (the other thread died off within 2 days anyway).

How would you rank their albums personally from favourite to least favourite? And how did you discover and end up liking CORE OF SOUL?

My favourite album would be 'Natural Beauty' and '3' tied. So it goes something like this.
1. Natural Beauty (Interchangable with '3' depending on mood)
2. 3 (Interchangable with 'Natural Beauty' depending on mood)
3. RAINBOW
4. 'Over the Time' TIME IS OVER
5. ONE LOVE, ONE DAY, ONE LIFE!

I rarely (actually...never) heard tracks from 'RAINBOW' talked about, either most people haven't listened to it or it's extremely underrated. It's short, but every track is quality, it was also the first album I purchased from them since 'SAINT DARKNESS' was the first song from them that really got my attention and loved. You can also hear how fantastic Fukiko's lives sound on the last track, as well as how fluent her English is even in lives. (Both speaking and singing, she talks about the song before she sings in it English as the song is completely in English)

I think I discovered COS through the website Project J, which has a short biography and a sample track of many good bands/artists. Apart from RAINBOW which I loved, I also downloaded the 'Natural Beauty' and '3' albums and never gave it a proper listen until early last year when I popped in onto the MD to listen to while traveling to school/work and suddenly realised how wonderful their music was! I picked up 'Natural Beauty' from cdjapan several weeks before I got a job, and once I got a job, the first things I made sure to purchase, were the other CORE OF SOUL albums I didn't have.

Now let's see more lengthy posts!

P.S Favourite tracks at the moment are 'Kohitsuji no Kamisama' and 'The Spirit of This Place'.

Wow, I'm very much the same as you.
My favourite albums are also Natural Beauty and 3 depending on my mood. I honestly just can't choose between them.

'Over the Time' TIME IS OVER is also good, but doesn't seem to hang together quite as well as the other two do. (I love Flying People though!)

I haven't actually heard Rainbow *shame*
I've never been able to download it, and for various reasons I've not been able to purchase it either....

As for ONE LOVE, ONE DAY, ONE LIFE, my copy hasn't arrived yet.

I also discovered COS through Projectj! At the time though, I was really taken with Bonnie Pink (which is how I found the site in the first place), so while I did download the sample of The Spirit of this Place, I didn't give them a proper listen until a while later.
Then I felt like an idiot for having overlooked them.

My favourite track right now is probably Purple Sky

OHOH! I'm doing a COS Wikipage! Check it out and feel free to add any information you can! ^-^

Great work on the wiki page! Mind if I copy it over to the description page on last.fm too later?

Currently, their entire discography is available for download at the CORE OF SOUL thread at Jpopmusic Forums thanks to tsuki2. So perhaps you'd want to pop over and register and grab RAINBOW if you want, it's fantastic.

http://www.jpopmusic.com/forums/view...=asc&start=105

I love Flying people too, but I've always been bothered about how fuzzy the song sounds...=/

Actually, some to think of it, the first I've heard CORE OF SOUL's music was here on AHS when a member uploaded 'November rain' and 'Trash the pride', I loved 'November rain' instantly at the time and unfortunately overlooked 'Trash the pride'. (Which I now love)

And I've had a change of mind, I think I might want to purchase their PV compilation now that I know they are going to break up.

Thanks so much for that link! But Shiroi Kiseki isn't working.

Ah poop.

I love Trash the Pride too. Especially how angry she sounds when she screams out "So I am pleading you to Trach The Priiiiiiide!"
Gah. Love it.

As for updating the wiki: I don't think you're allowed to copy and paste stuff without permission. So, you could either ask someone for permission to use that, or you could just paraphrase it or something....that'd be fine ^.^
