Surreal is right here...i've been staring at past single sales figures recently and omg...u can just tell how bad the state of the music industry is in Japan. back then (98~00), a million seller would probably get u in top 10 and 800,000 would get u in top 20. now? u only need 400,000ish to get into top 20. sad eh?

i would say its around 2002, that's when the sales went down dramatically...dont' u think?

Well at least the industry for the past 2 years (2005/2006) has improved from the lows of 2003/2004. So that's a good sign.

2005 singles > 2004 singles
2005 albums > 2003, 2004 albums

2006 singles looks like it will either break even or do better than 2005. 2006 albums looks like it will do worse than 2005 by a bit.

Meh. Other people's sales did improve. Plus, it wasn't that "Johnny's heavy" until this year and non-solo artists have usually done better in singles anyways. (before the decline)
