Who wants Ayu to write a heavy romantic love song???

I don't think she's done one yet. Even the ones with lyrics that could be interpreted romantically are shown not to be very romantic in her PVs. I think many of her outwardly romantic love lyrics actually speak more of loving oneself. Rainbow is a good example, and perhaps ANGEL'S SONG is too. On one episode of Ayuready? with Kyoko Fukada or Maki Goto she states her belief that one should take care of oneself first after the guest asserts this sentiment. I think so much of her music has to do with the self, and that every song has a little bit of this. In other songs, rather than be overtly in-lovey, she seems to prefer to take on a the role of a muse instead, speaking for everyone in love. In PVs such as appears, YOU, For My Dear..., and TO BE, she seems to be an observer commenting on what she sees.

Y'know, one of those songs that sounds really heavy with emotion. Like "Drive" by The Cars or somethin. Or like some of Andrea Bocelli's pieces.

Maybe Dearest comes closest? There always seems to be an uplifting quality in her music. Perhaps her heaviest lyrics occur in Memorial Address, especially in how the song ends; nevertheless, I think the instrumentation when the song moves into rock is uplifting. Even though the lyrics portray a vulerable speaker, the way she sings them gives the speaker strength. If the song had stuck with classical instruments the whole time, I believe we would have one profoundly sad song. She doesn't seem like a person who would do a really heavy song, but I wonder what such a song would sound like coming from her.

You guys know what I mean in general? I don't connect Ayu and romantic love songs. If you were to pick an Ayu song to play while you're at home cuddling with your loved one, would any of them fit? If you think any of her songs are really ooooh romantic, please post and say why you think so! Would you like to hear more of it from her? If you agree with me, would you like her to try doing a romantic love song?

no...i would prefer ayu keep writing at her own pace. if she's gonna write a mushy song...that woould be weird. Plus, i always like those not so straight forward, but you can relate and understand lyrics now.

The only reason why I say no is because I don't like heavily romantic songs. They just sound really cheesy to me, almost no matter how they're written. And when I see Ayu I don't really think of a heavy romantic person... o__o;

I think the way Ayu writes she expresses love in a different way, one that's deeper than the usual 'I want you', 'I need you', 'I love you' [by infinity] that's typical in most love songs. I think Ayu writes more about real feelings than the exaggerated type of feelings in heavy romantic songs - I wouldn't like her to write that type of song because it wouldn't be true to her usual style of writing.

Well the superficial type of lyrics wasn't exactly what I meant. I meant romantic love simply as in boyfriend/girlfriend type love between two people. Like I said, I think Memorial Address has that kind of lyrics. No where NEAR superficial. First time I saw the translation I was like...this is a wall of lyrics. This is heavy stuff. Wicked emotional, hell yea.

Hmm I just noticed, really, what a love song HEAVEN is.

i think that Ayu should keep writing the way she does, she's true ter herself when it comes to writing, right? So the fact that she writes about what she sees sometimes, shows how she doesn't have those feelings about someone just yet. I think that if she felt that she was truly in love, then she'd write one, or...maybe she feels that maybe if she were to become heart broken, the love song would become destroyed in the process.I love her unique style in writing, she's the one that taught me when i began writing for a few years(lyric writing) a song doesn't have to be about the usualy love or something like that, and that's why i have songs that are realatable in ways to people that could be in love, or love someone like there friend, you know what i mean? I think that lovey dovery songs can only go so deep when they say it flat out, "i love you" blah blah blah, Ayu seems to be the klinda person to come out in different ways. And like someone said, HiroNoKaze, she seems to have a bit of herself in most of hers songs.

I think that she has songs that you could listen to when your cuddling wiht your lover, plenty of songs actually, it just depends on how you read the song, her songs seem to have meanings within meanings, you know? Not all couples could probably say hersongs are love songs, but i think that certain songs of hers could be realtable to the couples' story. Voyage could be one, Dearest, Moments, HEAVEN, blah blah and some other ones too.

For all the words unspoken
I keep to myself because I’m selfish
I don’t speak to you because I think you’re selfish
Can’t there be an easier way?

My mind trespasses a vacant heart
But it soon learns of the orphan of secrets
Held inside
Why can’t I just foster my emotions
Like you had
Like all of you had?

In the stormy season
We often admire the rain
Why is it so admirable?
What’s so blissful about crying skies?
Nothing’s blissful about running mascaras
And gasping orbs of emotion
Smeared liner of depression
Drenched cheeks with forged smiles

The colder it is
The warmer we truly feel, right?
So can’t you just accept the secrets
And put away the selfish mindset
Because I can’t do the same thing.

-Yume (ME!! i wrote it!! lalala...)

I knew that's what you meant My experience of the usual romantic love between two people love songs - they usually are superficial and not a representation of how love really is. Most of what I listen to, I find it rare that a song expresses real feelings.
I think Ayu does write love songs of that type, she expresses it more in real feelings than exaggerated feelings. What I'm trying to say is that most heavy romantic songs tend to be 'happy love', it's more a caricature [sp?] of how people really feel - when people feel love they feel a lot more than just happy, there are other complex feelings that go with it, and Ayu expresses that. I suppose I just would like for her to keep expressing real feelings in her songs rather than just writing about one emotion.

Actually...

I guess all the things romantic that are in the song, are always in the lyrics. Since I don't know Japanese well enough to be able to understand it in-real-time, I wouldn't know how much a song would be romantic anyway... so I guess I can only rely on the melody, arrangement, voice... that's it. It would be hard for me to get literally hit with a song's lyrics, as it sometimes happens to me with songs in languages I easily understand.

If I'm not wrong, I remember reading somewhere that songs like "Teddy Bear", "No Way To Say", and "Memorial Address" are actually about her father, when he suddenly left home forever one morning when Ayu was only 2 years old; and that has left a scar on Ayu's soul ever since, which has also affected her relationships with men in general, I think; and also, Ayu was brought up, until her early teens when she moved to Tokyo, in an all-female environment at home, i.e. she, her mother, and her grandmother, and it was her grandmother who did most of her upbringing since her mother had to work full-time, which is probably why she seems to have a unique maturity of character that's reflected in her songwriting, as well as in her behaviour toward others.

that's what I was thinking when I heard Memorial Address and Teddy Bear. When I hear Ayu's love songs they seem like they always have a sad note in them.

singing about how love is beautiful and such is fine, but Ayu's love ballads are special because even if they are lovely and uplifting, they always have a note of sadness in them. Like she knows what she has is wonderful and that she'll treasure it and protect it forever, but she feels that it can't ever truly last forever.

Precisely! That's a reflection of her maturity; because she knows from personal experience that all good things in this world must come to an end, and that there's no lasting happiness in this world; but at the same time, she continues to hope, and not despair...no wonder her fans look up to her for support and encouragement, in the spiritual sense, as opposed to physical or financial.

^exactly! (I thought I wasn't explaining what I meant correctly, ) I look up to Ayumi because of this too. Like even though this might end someday, live and love up to your fullest so you can be happy and remember it in a positive light and grow from the experience.
I agree with what you said about her relationship and past w/ her father reflecting her views on life and in her music. You can see it in some of her lyrics and her music.
