Buying JPop in Hong Kong
I'm hoping someone here can help me. My brother is currently living in Hong Kong, and my mother is going to visit him at the beginning of October. I want him to get me two albums and my mother will bring them back with her. As my brother doesn't have much free time, I thought I'd post here and get some names and addresses of places that sell the genuine HK versions of Japanese releases (the OS versions), because they're cheaper than imports, so that he'd be able to find them. The two albums I'm looking for are Every Little Thing's Crispy Park (CD-only version) and Mai Kuraki's DIAMOND WAVE (also CD-only). If someone could tell me where he'd be most likely to find them, I'd be very grateful. I've already got the locations of HMV, I just want to find out if there are more places.
Edit: I'm only looking for shops that stock the official CDs

Ew. Hongkong. Watch out for bootlegs. If you can buy at official stores, like HMV, go for it. You never know if your brother accidentally pick a wrong CD. I mean bootleg CD.
coz my mother did.

That's what I'm concerned about, so I'm looking just for shops that stock official CDs. I'll go put that in my post.

I don't know where you shop, but bootlegs are scarce in Hong Kong now, I never saw one while I was there.
Don't bother with HMV, they're so expensive you might as well order them online. Any random CD stores on the streets is likely to stock these mainstream releases if the OS version is already released. These ones have pretty good prices. Swan & Co. Shop No.UG 9, C.C. Wu Building, 302-308 Hennessy Road, Wanchai, HK Laser Express Shop 237 Oriental 188 Shopping Centre, 188 Wanchai Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong There are also plenty of shops that would carry J-pop in Wanchai's "Oriental 188 Shopping Centre" and Mong Kwok's "Sino Centre", there's also a store in TaiKoo shopping centre with a pretty decent selection. But I can't remember the name of the store, but it's a chain store. Edit: Oh, I think the name of that chain store is 'CD Warehouse'. Last edited by ~K+; 30th August 2006 at 07:53 PM. |

Last time I check alot of the bootlegs store gets shutdown/raided by the customs or w.e they're call
anywho there are 2 stores in Mong Kok located at the basement of I can't remember the names right now... they're call the "black stores' it doesn't mean they're selling fakes. those guys doesn't care about the release date...2 or 3 weeks in advance than the actual release date.. they'll push it out on the shelves when they have it in stock...

Thanks everyone
I'll let him know the names of the places. LacusClyne, I don't know how well he knows the area, he has two jobs and very little free time, so he might only know one or two stores - I really need names and addresses for him He wouldn't really buy anything like that much, so he might not know where to get the CDs.
