thanks for the article^^ ayu will always be my "queen of j-pop". although it doesn't really matter. everyone has their own opinion on who is their "queen" and what gives them that title. but even if ayu weren't considered by many the queen of jpop and someone else was, i would still love her and her music. that's all that really matters. <3
also i'm sure that there's competition b/w ai and kuu but do u think its really true that they say those things about each other? i would lyk to think not but who knows? |

IMHO, Ai is the biggest competitor. She's getting popular because of her talent and 'cute' looks :3
Koda.. seems like the 'ORANGE RANGE' of this year, just not a group of guys.~~ They sold a ton of musiQ and then NATURAL didn't do so hot..

Thanks for the article~ I have a feeling kumi's gonna win the Nihon Record Taisho award again, with all the songs she released/ will be releasing this year.

Looking at her sales that seems likely, having high sales numbers helps winning the awards, hehe.

I think "Koi no Tsubomi" or one of her songs from her upcoming single will win it.

this is just my personal opinion, but i really don't care at all. even if Ayu is "dethroned" or whatever, she'l still be my J-pop queen. Kumi and Ai can never be better than Ayu for me...yes, i love Kumi and Ai, but i personally like Ayu so much better. even thought Kumi is a good role model, good person, and great singer, a lot of her fan-base is people who like to see her body/skimpy outfits/sexy dancing rather than her herself. i really think Ai can become something huge like Kumi and Ayumi in a short time. her sales are staggering, her music is beautiful, her lyrics are great, and she's so creative. but this is just my opinion

Ayu has no competition.
she does her thing...releases when she wants...makes the music she wants...She's doing what she does. It keeps her fans happy, to hell with everyone else. Her music is still timeless...she still captivates new people constantly...She's just Ayu. She can't be anyone else...she doesn't have to be. If people don't like her for being who she is, then maybe she doesn't even want them as fans anyway.

It's interesting how well thought out these kinds of tabloids are compared to some of our tabloids here.
But to be honest, I agree with JesA. Koda is probably never gonna be able to have a conservative image like Ayumi or Ai can and actually pull it off. She might later, but we're talking 3/4 ayumi status, where at least 4/5 of the country recognizes her. With her clothes on. Ai, she'll become big soon, we just need to give her time to grow a little more. For someone who released 11 singles and 3 albums post 2002, she's going steady and getting stronger every release. Unlike koda, her charm points are her cute and strong ballads, and her occasional poppy tune. she'll be something soon though, just watch her. Ayumi will always be JPOP queen. Just like Amuro Namie, Matsuda Seiko, Matsutoya Yumi, she'll create that legacy that no one will or can forget. You can ask anyone form the late 90s, late 80s/early 90s, 70s/early 80s (respectively) and they'll mention their artist as the top female. (Utada really doesn't have an era like these artists. She boomed, then flew under the radar of other artists, yet still sold REALLY well.) Ayumi will be mentioned by our generation as being the top; Koda and Ai will either just be limelight acts that faded, or will have their own time later. Even though it'll take her a little longer to reach Yuming in her releasing pattern (40+ albums?! Crazy!), she can pull off an old Amuro and sell out her concerts in less than an hour (Amuro was once able to sell out concerts in 15 minutes) Ayumi will also be known for her ever changing image, unlike the other three artists, which in itself is a legacy unable to be forgotten. She's created many legacies so far, such as one of the best top 10 percentages for singles, and #1 position for original studio albums. She also topped THREE charts at one time, instead of having three singles on the SAME chart at one time (koda). She also won the Nihon Record Taisho for three years, and probably would have won a fourth. Koda and Ai have A LOT to live up to if they want to replace her. Not only do they have to fill in her HUGE shoes, but they need to be able to leave a HUGE legacy like Ayumi. Ayumi was, and will still be, the JPOP queen. She not only evolved in front of us, but she is one of the most open artists you see, and shares her feelings through her songs. It's like to be the next Ayumi, there's TOO many paramountal achievements blocking your way. |

I don't really get it all serious
person, the writer of the article just saying her/his own opinion and to prove it, shows up a few facts, which we can even doubt to be true anyway, this is all just looks like a war who will win..? |

Go Kuu!! ^^
I think Ayu's reign is coming to an end but that's not stopping her anyways.. Even though her popularity's dropping, her fans remain loyal and she's still ripping up the charts... There's gonna be noone like Ayu... But like some people said, Ayu aint gonna be queen forever... She'll retire and she'll be remembered for it... Kuu's just a big star now... I don't want her to become queen... But Ai.. pfft... I never want her to be queen... no offense...

^No, I think that's referring to the Korean Ayumi mentioned in the article.
Personally, the most interesting thing in this article was calling Kumi a "newbie". She's been around December of 2000. That's nearly six years. I'd hardly call that being a newbie. =P |

You know, this reminds me of how so MANY artists have tried to out-do the sales of Michael Jackson's THRILLER...But nobody can do it, sadly not even he himself could top those sales. Not even his sister Janet has been able to reach half of his sales with the amount of ALL of her albums.
After reading this, I really do think of it as IMPOSSIBLE for any person to overcome Ayu...Should anybody do so I predict maybe in the next 20 years but most likely not since the whole world is kind of in recession as far music purchases. |
