Which song was planned to be the 3rd A-side in "BLUE BIRD"?
I often wondered this and I think it has to be between 1 LOVE, momentum, and JEWEL. I really doubt that momentum could have been it as it is a "winter song". I originally thought it had to have been JEWEL, but Ayu usually releases ballads like that in the fall/winter times so it could have been 1 LOVE? But I think JEWEL fits in better with the BLUE BIRD single, and although the song is somewhat simple, it is amazingly perfect and screams of completion. You can tell a lot of time and effort went into making that song a masterpiece!

I've wondered about this question too and frankly, I don't think we'll ever find out. It could have been 1 LOVE if you might consider it as a rock ballad, but I largely doubt so. Who knows. Maybe we are still yet to hear the song and that it is the new panasonic cm one, which means she's been working on it for more than half a year xD

Yukitora's far-fetched throwaway idea is actually very interesting. Maybe for Ayu to celebrate A BEST 2, she left the third a-side off her 40th single (milestone for her) and decided to stick it on her second best album?
Otherwise... possibly Born To Be... except it got stuck on the previous single instead because she didn't want to go back to having one a-side per single.

Born to Be sounds like the perfect 3rd A side...but actually what possibly may have been the 3rd A Side could be that new song too on the compilation, 'cause maybe she composed it all herself, arranged it, LOVED IT...we'll see...

I don't think it was Born To Be... as much as it seems to fit in there, because Ayu/Avex themselves said that the reason they didn't put the 3rd A-side in there was because the felt "It was not ready" or "finished completely" and they didn't want to rush it or something like that.

i don't really think Born To Be is the 3rd A-side song, isn't it the theme song for the Olympics? then, the song should be release together wih Startin', if it's out with BlueBirs, it's kinda late

I think its the new song, but, possibly, it could have been, in my opinion :
It was [i think that would have been a good fit ...] kiss o kill [only because this song seems to have A LOT of effort in it, and semms like it took possibly this long!] and yeah that all i thinkk. those three songs.

Maybe it was Secret.
Because of the PVs for the Secret album, I think THOSE songs were the ones originally planned for the mini-album; secret isn't among them. So one can guess that "Secret" wasn't 100% done when the mini-album was announced; perhaps she was intending for it to be on Blue Bird. Maybe Secret is one of the songs that ayu felt really strongly about, convincing avex to let her do a full album instead of a mini-album. It sounds awfully "polished" compared to other tracks like "until that Day...", you know? "utD..." is very raw sounding. "Secret" sounds like it had been worked on for awhile. Someone else suggested "kiss o' kill" but, while having ALOT of sound, it sounds a little gritty. Like the mix isn't QUITE there yet, you know? Secret sounds... yeah, polished is the best word for it. (and I DO believe that it WAS planned for a mini album but ayu convinced them otherwise. To announce one thing very very publicly and then have those plans change is VERY embarrassing, especially for a japanese company... that's why avex always seems to announce almost everything on ayu's official site last. Besides, recording more than half an album worth of songs is totally possible, Alanis Morissette recorded Jagged Little Pill in 2 weeks.)

I think it might have been 'It was'. That songs sounds very much like a summer song to me. Kinda like sitting in the beach at the end of August in the sunset. But then again we'll never know unless we go and ask ayu ourselves

I think it was JEWEL. I think Ayu decided not to put it on the single in the end because she was planning on releasing a mini-album and didn't want five songs to have already been heard. momentum doesn't fit, I don't think 1LOVE was even near completion. However, I think JEWEL was completely finished in the summer of '06 along with BLUE BIRD/Beautiful Fighters. I think JEWEL could've fared on a summer single, I don't think it was meant to fit any season in particular, there's nothing in the song mentioning snow, cold air, or autumn leaves...
