Oh please, as if Ayu's early albums weren't as rushed as always... The amount of time you put into a release doesn't guarantee success nor quality. And yes for her not to release anything in 2 years would be odd.

Time doesn't really help Ayu much. However, MY STORY is probably the longest she spent on an album since she was so busy in 2003 and only was able to release a mini album IIRC in 2003 that she basically was working on the album from January 2004 onward or at least thinking about the album (and tour to go along with it).

For the most part though, her albums are all done in the months before release as they always have been. She always likes to put things off till the last minute anyway. For her to take a break or spend longer than her usual timeframe to do an album would be very unlike her because she's a workaholic that cannot sit still by any means.

I think ayu needs to make Japan fall in love with the person she is now. Instead of Hiding behind her old hits. There're beautiful new songs that I will never see live because of this very reason.

We need a beautiful performance of Sweet Scar.
For me that is one of the best songs she has released this decade.

I feel like she does better when she does more.
Like her I am, Rainbow, Memorial Address era were fantastic and all that was done in what, 2 years?

But when she has a break I think she loses steam and starts to get lost (like when she has breaks in albums by 2 years) I could be completely wrong too tho. lol

I agree!!! I feel like I'm the only one who finds her new music (and current voice) to be better than her old songs. Nothing wrong with her old music, most of it is timeless but I feel like her new songs don't get as much love simply because they are different from her old ones.

And I LOVE her current voice, much more mature. I think her current voice has a lot to do with why I enjoy her ballads more, too. I know the GIFT isn't a favorite here, but I struggle to skip it when it comes up because I really love the way she sings it. Sweet scar is another great example, Shape of Love, Anything for you, You're the only one... I'm starting to think A BALLADS 2 wouldn't be a bad idea

If it's it on cd, then I agree. There are some strong vocals in a lot of her newer songs, but live? Pls no. She sounds so terrible now live.

She does not. Just depends on the song.

Yeah... 2015 was amazing, but for me 2016 sounds a bit off...
Both ARENAs weren't as bad as the CDLs (15-16 / 16-17) were...

I wouldn't say terrible, but bad? Yeah, definitely bad most of the time. If pitch correction wasn't invented, she'd be in a serious trouble, she would probably have to rerecord vocals for DVDs.

They are definitely bad. It's pretty telling nowadays one of the first post for her lives is her voice being okay/decent/listenable. Lol. When has this become a norm? She used to kill it so often.

I will stand by my statements of terrible, because I compared to her past and what she's capable of singing. I just feel like she's just shouting all the time now.

You...understand that for a live, there's only so much control the sound people have over the mixing of the various channels, right?

Ayu, not releasing something in two years???

Guys, we're talking about the woman who released two albums in a year! Remember Rock'n'Roll Circus in april 2010 then Love Songs in december 2010?
These two were fantastics albums. Same for (miss)understood in early 2006 and Secret at the end of the same year. And again, these albums were fabulous.
I've read enough interviews to know that Ayu works better in rush, she always did.
