^ Ayu's number 1 position was threatened by an unlikely unit called Shuchishin, who came from a popular quiz show called Hexagon.

Over the weekend, Avex started adding bonuses onto the single like by two copies get a mirror, or whatever, and her saturday and sunday sales were much higher than usual saturday and sunday sales are, which many people assume was the doing of avex who purchased copies to boost her sales to keep her number 1 spot.

At least, that's how I remember it. I could have had the days wrong haha.

And then when You were... came out a lot of people were pissed that the date was changed because they saw it as a cop out.

Which is silly, because there are plenty of singers who avoided ayu during her heyday so they could get good positions.

From memory a new artist that was selling well scheduled his release on the same day as Ayu but after Ayu had scheduled the release of Mirrorcle World. Mirrocle World sold well on the first day or two but came #2 to the other release quickly after. Avex pumped out heaps of promo to get it to #1. And it worked.

I think it worried avex more because Guilty didn't make it to the #1 spot, and Mirrocle World was the first single after that album, having two releases at #2 one-after-another would have surely rallied Japanese media to say her streak of #1s was over.

Although I'm against any leak from the album, but I'm curious why AVEX didn't realese any PV for the album promotion? Hmmm...I hope they will do something quickly~ It's one more week until the release date~~

the promotions might be a bit harder to do since this was all brought together because of her tie in song with tales of xillia so they might have to work with the games release or maybe avex thinks since there's ToX stuff and adds with progress, that will be enought but I would like to see the cm by now

Yeah, that's the point! If you are not looking for the Ayu's billboards you won't see it!!
The only advertisement I pay attention to are the ones in the trains.

Actually Shuchishin never released a single beforehand. They were on a popular show (?) and they released their debut single (called Shuchishin as well) on the same week. MW was released a day earlier because April 8th was not Wednesday, which means MW had an extra day sale during that week. Ayu got no. 1 on the first two days I think, but SCS got no. 1 for the next three days and their cumulative sales were threatening MW's sales. avex got panic because MW was meant to be ayu's 10th anniversary single (and I have no idea why they didn't for GULITY anywayz). So they set up a mass promotion at the concerts on the weekends (like, buying 2 covers would get poster, all 4 covers would get a photo taken in the concert, etc). I can't remember what she got on saturday, but miracle happened on Sunday when the sales were even greater than the 2nd day sales. So this incident tells us that those artists with no. 1 streaks can be broken anytime when a new artist with unknown force debuts on the same week.

Yeah, Quiz! Hexagon was the show. They have an incredibly large fanbase... one of the guys is now a popular solo artist with rather good sales. [Yusuke]

Not too sure if Hexagon is as big now as it was in 2008/2009.

It's even more odd imo that the CDL10-11 CM isn't out and it comes out in 2 days. LOL. Ayu's web staff need to get their act together and update! Or maybe it's a weird self imposed "information ban" as usual.

Yeah, I notice actually the longer I live here, the less I even notice billboards. Unless it's a lot of billboards all over, I doubt people are really noticing a billboard in a corner of Shinjuku somewhere unless they are looking for it. Train promotion is best, as well as TV CMs I think. For example, Arashi is constantly on my mind because you still see them in commercials for various things every single commercial break.

Today is the flying get day for the dvd. I can't believe we have nothing. Like, it's shocking. I don't even understand what her team is doing.

The video stores are either showing a CM that we don't have yet, or showing nothing at all.
