IF there was going to be performance of Hero I don't think it wouldn't be as the main song since it was not made for Japan's own Olympics. It could happen at the ceremony, but since she's retired I don't think she'd be back for a side thing.

But I can see someone covering it instead during the ceremony

lol, that's true.

I don't think it matters that it wasn't specifically written for these olympics. The song has become a classic.

They are playing that S19B rap-remix all over Shibuya with little flags everywhere.

I love AI's song, a nice twist to the song and her voice is something else. t-ace's song tho... it feels odd to me, more like a fanmade mash-up than anything, to me his rapping and sound effects don't match the original song. Wasn't much of a smooth mixing there.

But these songs being released around the same time made me wish for a tribute album, it'd be so cool to see younger artists covering and sampling her songs. Hope they are considering this in the future.

^^^ Man that was an era. 60s70s80s was THE single of the decade and Best Fiction sold off the charts. Her concert was phenomenal too. I remember listening to What A Feeling and Do Me More like 10 million times TTTT

I was in Japan for the first time in Sept 2008 and Best Fiction promos were around the place. I knew OF Namie but wasn't really aware of her music, so I grabbed Best Fiction at a random CD shop in Osaka and was pleasantly surprised. I feel like it wasn't as easy to keep up with music releases back then so I'd never heard anything on BF (all I knew of her was Four Seasons from one of the Inuyasha movies) but it quickly became my favourite CD that year. And all those PVs on the DVD were gorgeous.

I'm still mad at her for retiring, not gonna lie....

^ This is also around the same time I became aware of Namie. I heard one of her songs on a mix tape and stumbled across the digest video of PLAY tour on youtube. I had a few songs of hers that I listened to back then, so she was on my radar since 2007/2008 but I didn't really get super into her until a couple years later.

Her most recent music kind of irked me a bit since I'm not really into electronic/super generic western style pop music.(and I'm mad that she didn't have the band after 2010...that bothers me to no end!) I've come to like some of it and I've become okay with not liking some of some of her newer music too. She can't please everyone all the time so I don't want to hold anything against her just because I personally didn't like some of it. I miss her though. I've watched so many interviews of her and she really seems like such a sweet person. I'm sad we won't get to see anything new from her anymore, and honestly I'm so grateful that I managed to see her live in 2018, it was a major fulfilment of a bucket list wish.

I saw on Timehop that on this day 6 years ago I went to FEEL tour. It was one of the extra dates they added and my first concert in Japan

Wow. I'm *so* not a fan of the use of auto-tune, especially to the extent shown here.

Man, Namie was SERVING in the TSUKI PVs.

That PV for Ballerina in particular was really something. I kind of wish she had carried that visual concept into an entire album.

Sorry if I missed a link earlier, but does anyone know where you can watch the Namie documentary that showed her looking back over her career? I remember only watching half, then saying here I'd definitely finish it, and then I lost the link...

Do you mean the Hulu documentary series?

If not, can you describe it more? Haha. I can try to search for it!
