It's true. The singles leading up to HEART STATION were great, but the album tracks were positively abysmal. I mean, it sounded like the budget for the album tracks was about 1400 yen and she did her arrangements in Garageband on her Mac. It's her worst album to-date, without a doubt.

I love utada but i still make fun of her horrible clothes and bad hair days (everyday XD) It's all about being able to laugh it off, Heart Station has it's highs and lows.

You guys, if you don't like people's opinions on Hikki's works, just ignore them and move on. 90% of them time they're probably just trying to stir up trouble, so don't give them the opportunity.

Personally, HEART STATION is my favorite Hikki CD (and this is coming from someone who's been a fan since 2001). "Prisoner of Love" and "Teiku 5" are some of the best non-single tracks she's ever done, IMO.

You're wrong! Distance is still the best album. Heart Station was so boring. I fell asleep listening to it!

ULTRA BLUE > HEART STATION > DEEP RIVER > Distance >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> First Love ().

Who said that? It was a "Your Favorite Artist" List of 2008 and rightfully deserved.

For me, it depends on the mood I'm in. Certain albums of hers I'll listen to when I'm feeling a certain way. Can't deny though that they are all brilliant in their own way!

this is true for me as well...

i like the song first love...but i have to be in the mood.

I like Exodus more than first love...but it's because the songs are funny...not...composition and stuff like that.

woah tension in this thread.

You know...it's odd, i never really realised the split in hikki's fans....like the ones who prefer the new music, and the ones who prefer the old music.

I wonder if maybe it's just because of us here at the forum, and we're all really opinionated...but....i don't know...tis interesting.

oh well, hikki<3 right?

...right?

For me it's: Ultra Blue, Deep River, Heart Station, Distance, First Love. I like her stronger voice and her style of the later albums.

^LOL! Oh noes!~ Forum tension... how about this?

FIRST LOVE = Distance = Deep River = Exodus = ULTRA BLUE = HEART STATION

All of her albums are masterpieces in their own way!! ^ ^ Anyhow, I thought First Love was pure <3 In My Room, Never Let Go and Amai Wana ~Paint it, Black~ are some of her best songs ever I reckon!

@emiko - I personally love Hikki's old and new works equally! So perhaps I am the exception? But then again my Hikki fanboyism overcomes me a bit too much sometimes ^ ^

OMG! It's about time someone besides me loved and realized how good In My Room and Amai Wana are. I luff you more and more I get to know you omably. And your fanboyism is just fine.

And for me it's DEEP RIVER>Distance>ULTRA BLUE>HEART STATION>First Love.

DEEP RIVER is just an awesome album and I like the songs from there so much, all of the songs from there. DEEP RIVER fanboy =P.

Distance was in battle with DEEP RIVER for me as my favorite album by hikki but I guess that DEEP RIVER had something superior over it, Distance is great but 2-3 tracks were less greater than DEEP RIVER's goodness.

ULTRA BLUE is where the ethereal pop started to really get hikki's main style and I love UB's etereal pop songs, they are amazing, some aren't as good as the others and it includes my most favorite song by hikki Passion.

------------

I did the --- because the 2 left albums have a big difference than the upper three for me.

HEART STATION has good single songs (excluding HEART STATION and Stay Gold which I don't find really strong, I got tired of them pretty quick after I was excited about the previews). And boku wa kuma which I hated but I started to like and it's a nice kiddies song. The album has a whole and most of the album tracks didn't do it for me in the long shot. I heard the album the first time and enjoyed most of it.
A week afterwards I just took the single songs (excluding HS/SG and including PoL) and I enjoyed them as the HEART STATION album. I just don't think that HEART STATION is strong like the other 3 above, for me it's a decrease in level for hikki, big time since she couldn't make the album tracks that interesting for me and sometimes I like listening to teiku 5 but still this album didn't do it for me, most of it.
I do wish she would work harder for the album tracks and not just the single tracks and would use other instrumentals than the synths.

First Love is a nice album at best (again for me) Automatic and Never Let Go are two of my most favorite songs of hikki but the rest of the album songs (except for First Love) doesn't make me really interested in listening to them. I'm not saying it's not a good album but if I will want to listen to hikki I most likely won't hear anything besides 2 songs from First Love and I DO own First Love copy (DEEP RIVER and Distance, still need to get UB and yeah even HS because I'm a hikki fan too).

DEEP RIVER is nothing but good singles and then a bunch of filler, IMO. "Tokyo Nights", "Shiawase ni Narou", "ASAP" and "Play Ball" are seriously awful to me. And "Usomitai na I Love You" is one of her worst tracks to date. I love the singles, but I'd be better off just listening to Singles Collection Vol. 1 if I wanna hear them instead of skipping through all the crap album tracks.

I know a lot of people would say that about HEART STATION, but I definitely disagree. "Beautiful World", "Prisoner of Love", "Fight the Blues", "HEART STATION", "Flavor of Life", "Kiss & Cry", "Stay Gold" and "Teiku 5" are 110% amazing to me.
