You know what's funny, going through the thread, you can see a clear division between what types of members have certain opinions...not to be elitist or anything. But it seems to me, that a lot of the newer members here are still in that phase where they like almost everything she does and she never does any wrong. Lol, i agree, not to be offensive too, but this thread has over 10 pages and i usually read posts from older members and mostly skip posts from members who joined 2007 after, i just find it more interesting and can relate more.

I wasn't expecting much from this PV since the director made some of Ayu's worst PV's.

But i really liked the PV, it's purely entertaining and the best since...(miss)understood days (part of me and 1 LOVE was pretty good too).

Likes:
-How each of her 6 dancers represented a different animal
-How Ayu's embracing the Japanese/asian culture,(ninja like) since this Pv could be her most international PV
-The dancing was actually quite good (Ayu always looked awkward as usual)
-there was cool Ayu and glamorous Ayu.

Dislikes:
-The costume Ayu wore didnt flatter her body, didnt shape her hips and her legs looked a bit short.
-Ayu can move with the beat but can't dance!
-Her mouthing when she said "Rule" was weird
-The song...was okay, but her voice totally drowns in the music at the chorus bits.

Overall i really liked this PV! but like some people said, nothing is perfect!

Hate to tell you this, but "pout lips" exist in Western culture as well. And there are times when attempts at these "pout lips" looks fail, and the person does indeed start looking like a fish. It's not some exclusive Asian thing that only Asian people understand.

I also hate to tell you, that the RULE PV could easily be a Western video, plus or minus a few Japanese characters and motifs. If she was playing a koto or bopping a taiko while her dancers enacted a Kabuki play, then yeah, maybe some Westerners wouldn't "get" it as much. But she's wearing outfits that you can see in any US female pop star's video, dancing moves that you could learn at any modern dance studio. And it's not like Westerner see guys dressed like ninjas and scream "DO NOT LIKE!!" Actually, it's quite the opposite these days, at least where I live in the US.

You're making a really insane argument, and I think you need to just not post on message boards if peoples' opinions bother you so much. I don't come here so I can see people parroting the same opinion over and over. I come here to see what other people think, and read / participate in discussion. What do you come here for?

As I see, the main problem here is old ayu fans that don't like her present image and newer ayu fans that don't understand this (and there are some that like her since A Song for XX and still enjoy her works, but they are not here). Ayu is taking a big image change since (miss)understood, and a lot of her older fans can't really feel her right now, and that's why they find the new pvs bad, the new concerts over-done and the new music bland.

About the "asian thing", sorry, but that's true... I don't like most of ayu up-beat happy songs, cause they remind me of brazillian singers that release music only for children... But in Japan, it's a very common sound for adults too... A lot of things she done on her career where not fully understood by her western fans cause they are not asian (and I'm not talking that like "omg!1 we are dumb cause we are not asian!1!", there are a lot of things that eastern artists do that westerns don't really get too)

I don't really think that ayu have any bad video (maybe Born to be, and just because it have that lights that makes hurt our eyes),they are all very well made (even MW and Green, they aren't bad edited, they just uses a lot of non-mainstream aesthetics), they just were made on diferent moments of her career with diferent purposes...

And that's it... older fans need to understand that Ayu is not the same... Newer fans need to understand that some older fans aren't really found of the newer ayu...

But I've been a fan since her I am... / RAINBOW days and I've have a thorough understand of her works beforehand so I don't consider myself a "new fan" who likes everything she comes out with, because I don't. But I'm not NEARLY as disappointed with her work as the other older fans seem to be. Being an AHS makes me insecure about whether or not I'm being a blind fan and going with the flow since I can never see a lot of the faults other members find with her, but I've come to the realization that I'm really not. I'm a fan, not a critic. I'm also an individual. What I perceive is not the same thing as what someone else perceives. I've realized that after being a member for a few months (for years I was the only Ayu fan I knew...). So I've heard the other side, and I know how I feel... and that's all that matters I guess ^-^;

I know her since evolution single, but started to listen to her and became a fan since fairyland (because of alterna)... But since I didn't like her before, I still see all the things I didn't like on her earlier works... And also I'm aways pissing off some artist-I-like-fan because I really can't be a blind fan... I think Ayu (and most pop acts) is a average-to-good vocalist, still don't like a lot of her earlier works, hate all her videos until endless sorrow...

I can understand how somebody that loved her earlier stuff don't like her present stuff... Cause I don't like most of her old stuff... little by little I'm finding a lot of things I really like, but mainly the singles... I just can't listen to all songs of any pre-rainbow albuns of hers

Where in the profiles does it say the race of members? There are many asian members here, probably more than "non-asians". I don't know how you read through threads with the ability to identify the race of the posters.

In your opinion: Asian = loves everything she does. Non-asian = criticizes everything she does.

it's on her buttom back~ near waist... i just noticed it when i watched the PV once again..and you can see the tattoo starting from 3:35 on wards~

I actually don't think this PV is too bad compared to her other recent ones, I just think it could have ended up way better.

But yeah, you make an interesting point. I've noticed more and more that peoples forum join date says 2008, which honestly is great because it means Ayu is getting more overseas fans. But its pretty rare nowadays to see posts from members that joined say...pre 2006. I'm wondering what happened to everyone? I joined in 2004, but the forum was around for years before that and I hardly see anyone still around from that time.

What do any of the things you are talking about have to do with being asian? It doesn't make sense. Americans do annoying fish mouth poses too. It's not an asian thing at all.
