I mean I discovered her in 2005 and tbh I didn't think she was that great compared to the other two as her music back at the time (Style, Queen of Hip Hop) sounded way too American for my taste and I was into completely different stuff. So I pretty much agree that her International fan base started getting bigger with QoHH and PLAY and that before that not many people actually gave a damn about her.
I wasn't implying she had the largest fanbase tho (that can compare with ayu and hikki) just that she had a pretty big one.

^One of my closest friends in real life is a Namie follower since the 90s (I believe some relativ that went to Japan and bought her some singles and she felt in love)... And I remember most people don't knowing much about her besides Can You Celebrate and that she was big on the past... When internet got popular, Namie was already at her bottom, and people who discovered jpop from internet knew who were big at the time... Ayu and Hikki.

Even over here in AHS the Namie fanbase grew a lot on the few last years.

It doesn't even have that huge a fanbase in Japan :/

The fact that Namie is popular with her type of music...is really something.

What is her type of music? Something that is more popular than Ayu's style, which Japan is not much in favor of these days...?

I discovered Ayumi back in 2007. The same day, I discovered Utada as well. I didn't know who Namie Amuro is till 2009 and when I checked out her cds sales I said: "She big but not even close to Ayumi".

Pretty much. Though I've never really thought she belonged to the j-urban crowd.

^^I think even if they did, it wouldn't. Look at A COMPLETE. A BEST 2 did well, but that was in 2007, and had pretty good promotion. Plus those posters and billboards everywhere with her eyes that were telling the public "BUY MY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!"

Maybe this week sales were better because of the cover's release of A-Summer Best? I hope Party Queen will keep selling at least until SB came out (just 4 weeks more omg! it's so near!) and then have a little boost of sales ^^

And the Namie thing... I don't like her, I only like few songs from her and I respect her because she's a good artist, but I usually don't like her songs and get bored soon of them. 60's 70's 80's and Best Fiction were her best in my opinion.

I'd love it if her new album would sell more than Party Queen, but I have this feeling it won't. I hope I'm wrong.

That'd cost, maybe a minimum of this much yen: 1,800,000,000 (600K copies times a minimum of 3,000 yen for party queen)
