why would black guys have an accent anyway, unless they were from Jamaica or the dominican republic or africa or britain or something lol
I can't understand English in Japanese songs AT ALL unless I read the lyrics first. The accents are seriously horrible. And Namie's is the worst out of my repertoire lol Some of her words...just totally sound like something else..and her voice can't seem to make the transition from letter to letter lol Is WILD out yet? damn, when should it be expected?

Ooh, jumping into the Namie's English conversation, it's really good for someone who speaks Japanese and she has shown that she is very capable of pronouncing things that are usually hard for Japanese people, like 'th'. I've said this a million times, but as an example, she'd pronounce 'thinking' perfectly in live performances of Wishing on the Same Star. In the actual song she sings 'sinkin' lol. In some songs her pronounciation isn't as good as others, but she's definitely one of the best. When I was new to Japanese musik, her pronounciation of the English in WMWM suprised me; she sounded American. I'd say her pronounciation is better than Ayu's, I don't know about comprehension and such (I thought Ayu was pretty good in that Talk Asia interview) but she's worked/works around Americans all of the time I'm sure she can understand quite a bit. Like, with Patricia and Orlando, it seems that she can understand them pretty well. I also like her Chinese too 'cause it's cute and it was so funny when she forgot how to say "My name is..." in a Taiwan concert lolz and she ran to retrieve the paper. ![]()

^ That comparison is off because knowing the language but butchering it with slang is not the same as a Japanese person trying to speak a language that they do not know.

Get a clue! People whose native tongue is English having regional accents and dialects is not the same thing as someone foreign who speaks broken English or only a few poorly pronounced phrases.

I think her English hit or miss. I think it sounds really good in all 3 of her 60s70s80s songs, pretty flawless.
But in Do Me More I was unable to understand the rich/cheap box thing, as well as the butterfly part. Sexy Girl's English is pretty good too.

^I thought 60s and 80s had some fun english but some of the words weren't pronounced right. Like WAF brigde part, I swear it sounds like she's saying, "False, False, False, False, and False" instead of Forth. I really couldn't understand what she was saying in New Look. If it wasn't for CDTV providing the lyrics while she preformed , I might wouldn't have known what she said in english.

To be honest, the only English I understand from Japanese artists are from artists who have lived in an English-speaking country at some point in their lives. Otherwise, I completely miss it and think it's Japanese.

I don't think her bad english is the problem at all.
Even if you understand what she says, if you dont speak japanese you wouldn't have a single clue of what she means ![]() So just take those English as vocal beats of the songs and just get the **** over it ![]() Easy as that. |

I feel the same way. The instrumental sealed the deal with me as far as getting the Single was concerned. Otherwise I wouldn't have been so quick to decide.
