IT'S RETURRRNNNNEEEDDD!!! Thanks for the link! I also secretly hope to hear these two together but I think this cover is the closest we'll get. Maybe other covers in the future. But I just can't imagine them actually doing a song together. (though I still really want it for biased/science reasons.)

Since I was pretty disappointed with _genic and still think it's a bad album, I didn't listened to any singles released after it. I just downloaded them and the upbeat songs are a lot of fun! I just finished my 3rd workout listening to them. lol How were they recieved here?
Oh and btw, I love her old ballads, but I haven't liked a Namie ballad since himAWAri, and that song was released in 2000. lol I don't know, it's not that her recent ballads are bad or something, but the lyrics and also the way she sings are very kitschy I think? I can't really put my finger on it, does someone know what I mean?

I didn't find "_genic" to be bad per say, just a bit underwhelming in the long run. A lot of the tracks just feel like they're missing something.

Anyhow, I've actually really found myself loving the pure pop sound she's been going for with her b-sides. "Chit Chat", "Show Me What You've Got", "Christmas Wish".

I didn't hate _genic, but as ShiniTakashi said it was underwhelming. When the previews came out I was sooooo excited. The songs seemed to be so much fun and could've easily been one of my favorite dance albums based off those alone. Then the actual album was released and it was like the previews were just... extended. You know? Boring, nearly. Repetitive. Unexciting. The album was seemed to be one long preview. You were waiting for something else to happen and it never did. It disappointed me, honestly, though not enough to say I hate it. I do love Golden Touch and Space Invader. It's too bad the lives don't really save the album either. She always seems to be scrambling to keep up with the English lyrics when performing most of the tracks. Like I could honestly be reading the lyrics to Time Has Come as she's singing it and still have no idea what she's saying.

What's she's released since _genic, though, have been great imo. I remember a lot of people not favoring Red Carpet but loving Black Make Up. Mint was good but Chit Chat is still my go-to dance song, over a year later. I'm not personally a fan of Hero, it's just a tad too long for me but Show Me What You Got is actually a lot of fun (though if you go back a thread or two, you'll find me bashing it to all hells at first iirc). Dear Diary/Fighter were good, though I like Fighter over Dear Diary. Then there's Just You and I, which I find myself absently humming a lot, though I don't really prefer the Christmasy sound to it. Oh! Honorable mention. There was also that recording she did with Show-Ya for Genkai Lovers, which I still personally think is one of the best things she's ever done. (Rock Namie? Yes, please.) Definitely worth checking out if you haven't. Am I missing any of the releases since _genic? I'm too lazy to look it up and that's what I got off the top of my head.

That's the thing with Namie that I love so much. She's always changing up her music style (not her personal style, that hair and those boots are e.t.e.r.n.a.l.) so if you didn't like this album or that album, it's always worth checking out at least one more-recent single of hers because the likelihood of them sounding the same is probable but not likely.

Yeah I guess I have the same problem with _genic, it's boring and repetitive. For me it sounds as if she recorded just some demos and released them. I actually didn't like a single song and deleted the whole album a few days back after lisening to it once again. And I will never understand why she didn't include Neonlight Lipstick and Ballerina.

The recent singles were way better! I would be gratefull though if she would stop with the Engrish and never record a song in Engrish again. Maybe that's the biggest problem I had with some of the recent ballads. It's ok in the upbeat songs since it's easier to ignore, but her Engrish sounds so fake and as if she doesn't even know what she's singing, I can't take those ballads seriously. Even though some songs had beautiful melodies, I simply have to laugh when listening to them.
My favourite out of the new songs has to be Fighter, I think. But I pretty much enjoy listening to all upbeat songs from the recent singles whenever I'm in the mood to listen to music that's a little more carefree.
I didn't knew she did a song with Show-Ya, need to listen to it!
Oh, how was the song with Crystal Kay btw, haven't checked this one out yet.

Oh, Revolution? I personally didn't like it, though I remember several other members saying they either liked it or were okay with it. I thought of it the same as _genic, never hitting that musical climax. Repetitive. Get's boring before it's even over. I actually listened to it that first and only time and that was it. Again, though, that was just my interpretation. It's also to note that I'm not the biggest Crystal Kay fan, never have been, so I wasn't hyped up about it to begin with. I say give it a shot. They've a short version of the MV on youtube, I think. I'd put it up here for you but I'm on my cellphone and don't feel like going through the pains of trying to do it this way xD

I think a lot of us are on boat with you why she didn't put her recent singles in the albums. Neonlight Lipstick and Ballerina are BA to the core and deserves much better than a B-spot on a single. But, to be honest, I'm actually on the opposite end of that argument. I enjoy how the singles don't make the CD's. We get more music that way and it also means I may not have a clue to what the actual album is going to sound like when time comes. I find it like a little surprise, really xD (But I'm seriously one of the only people who think that both here and IRL that I've at least talked to.)

I can't believe I forgot to mention "Black Make Up". That song is absolute gold.

Yeah, "Revolution" is blah on so many levels. Seriously? A dubstep drop? It's so dated and the lyrics are cheesy as hell. Weak chorus too. A forgettable song all around.
"Genki LOVERS", on the other hand. Rock Namie totally went out and sounds great. I would love for her to pursue more rock like this, but doubt she will.

I agree wholeheartedly about the English lyrics, especially when it comes to ballads. Her questionable English pronunciation diminished the quality of "Beautiful" and "Let Me Let You Go", which are actually really good songs. Though I liked "Anything" a lot.

Anyhow, back to her recent singles... I like "Red Carpet" in some ways, but find it totally uninteresting in her discography.
"Mint" is god-tier. Seriously, one of the best singles she's released in a LONG time.
"Hero" isn't bad, but a tad too long. It's your typical j-pop/feel good song though, so no surprise there. Her Japanese fans love it.
"Dear Diary" is a typical Namie ballad. Nothing special, but I like it.
I was not feeling "Fighter" at all when it first came out, but like it more now. I still find it to be a bit too typical.
"Just You & I" is really lovely and sweet. I know it's gotten a lot of flack for not being interesting enough, but I think it's cute.

I forgot this song existed! I need an album compiling any songs not appearing on an album (after her next album).

I've been listening to Genius 2000 on repeat! Haha. Asking why is so good. Forgot how much I liked this album.

I've found myself listening to her STYLE album over the last few weeks. Don't Lie To Me is so nice and calming to listen to

anyways, I thought about remixing another Namie song but I don't know which one. It has to be a single with an official instrumental so I can filter her vocals out. Any suggestions?
