Yeah that.

So today I got this DS promo brochure that had Hikki on it from 2004. Tottaly random pretty much useless thing to have but I don't care. lol.

Also Sanctuary has grown on me. I used to dislike it but after hearing Sanctuary (Ending) it's actully quite good.

And congrats to Utada for adding yet another Record under her belt. If anyone could do it, she could. I knew once the Physical Album was released, the difference between just a DIGITAL release and a PHYSICAL release would be shown.
Where did BoA's Album debut?

Imagine if she hadn't got sick and did her promotions. She may have been able to get in the top 50 or 40.

P.S.> Some pages ago someone asked what Utada was saying at the end of "Beautiful World". They thought it was "Lonely Boy". Well I was listening to it tonight. She says, "It's Only Love".
thank god it showed people the difference...I was tired of the stupid "hikki's album has been released already" arguement. tis ridiculous...anyway...

I don't really understand why they promote after either...I dont understand why they need to have a single to promote? Why can't they promote right off the album? *is confused* I don't know...I never really paid attention to american release schedules.

Utada is so cute and kiddy in those DS commercials. I'm flabbergasted as to why she hasn't gone on to continue promoting it in commercials. I would love that periodic exposure. Something to wet our whistles in between releases. She hardly ever does commercials now. *Sigh*

Anyway. Describe Utada on the brochure and I want that brochure. Thanks.

EDIT: Emiko:

Well the way I see it is that by releasing new songs to the radio, people can then hear songs off of the Album and get it if they like it. But yeah, when you think about it, here in America we're just buying an Album purely on star power because we've usually only heard like one of the songs before the Album is released and we buy it. That is weird how we work. Because artist still get big sales opening week based off of one or 2 songs. On the upside we don't get a "New" album with a bunch of already heard Singles. *COUGH*Utada*COUGH*

Yeah I liked those commericals. She should do commercials more often...

The booklet/brochure thing has a pic of Hikaru from the side dressed in red. She's holding a stylus. Open it and there is this (Yay for my camera...maybe I should scan...)

The Touch! Part folds open to a bunch of people in similar pose. That's it. The rest of the book just explains the DS and such with little pictures showing it's features.

@ xheartstation True! Passion is awesome. I can't decide if I like the after the battle version of Passion more than the original or not.

Releasing a single, the album and them more singles it one thing that makes the album sales in USA steady for a longer time than most jpop albums IMO, cause even if fans buy it when it's released, casual listeners have the time to know some songs before doing it... while in Japan a casual listener can pretty much buy the single with the song they like and forget about the album... So, who is interested buys it when it's released and most of the time the albums sales fade quickly

Yup, as soon as you said red dress, I knew exactly which outfit you were talking about. And Utada with her pig tails. Saving picture. Thanks.

I FOUND HER !!!! in a DUTCH record store in my own small city!! what the freaking hell!! The national chains don't have her of course, but this is an individual record store so they can choose to import American releases, and they did!!

my heart skipped a beat and I started screaming at my friend "OMG THEY HAVE UTADA!! THEY HAVE UTADA!!"

I made him buy it as well I wanted to buy it myself, but I'm absolutely broke. But it's ok, I have the Japanese version. I took a picture:

I am wrong. Utada is NOT the first Japanese artist to break the top 200

Quote:
Utada enters Top 100 on U.S. Billboard charts

Hikaru Utada's second English album, "This Is The One," finally hit U.S. stores last week. Already doing well in Japan, the album also proved successful in America, achieving #69 on the Billboard album charts. This makes her just the 7th artist from Japan to enter the chart's top 100.

The last Japanese artist to break the top 100 was in 1986, when rock band Loudness ranked #64 with "Lightning Strikes." The first was Kyu Sakamoto in 1963, followed by Isao Tomita, Tsutomu Yamashita, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Yoko Ono, and finally Loudness.

"This Is The One" was released on March 14 in Japan and debuted at #3 there and ranked 1st on the foreign albums chart for multiple weeks.

Delirium-Zero @ Jpopstop actually wrote an article about the past Japanese acts here.

Oh yeah. Kyu Sakamoto. And I knew that too. Must have skipped my mine in all of the hoopla. Had no idea that many had made it though. Well I guess the first one since 1986 is still a big deal. doesn't happen often. That's 13 years.

Well I guess the main thing will be if Utada has the staying power and becomes well known and a household name.

*Record should've been Utadas'*

Ohh okay so they don't create a physical "single" to sell, they just choose a song for the radios to play. Gotcha!

physical singles are still released sometimes, but only collectors and djs (because of the remixes) buy them
